Awesome record; but... Some isolated distortion?
As always; Joe delivered... And then some. But I have one question for everyone else who has listened to the song Elephants of Mars from the CD. Are you hearing distortion in it that resembles static or clipping??? I'm hearing it no matter my playback source including my Hi-fi gear.

Blue Foot Groovy
I dont see what all the hub bub is about. Sounds like every other Satch record if maybe a little more over produced, i.e. keyboards and strings (not guitar). Listening to it for the 2nd time now after just getting it. Stone blue foot groovy.

Excellent example of Satch’s guitar mastery
Great album. Dynamic styles within the songs. Perfect example of the many reasons Satriani is the master.

Nice production
I don't care what style of music Joe produces. I've liked EVERYTHING he's played. Always fun and engaging and keeping it fresh. This is a very good production. Carry on Joe!One star is removed because there is distortion with the vinyl. Not all tracks are affected but a few are irritating. At least it's flat (not a hint of warp). Not reference quality plastic here.

His best album.
I came here with the intent of posting a 5-star review, and noticed all the other 5-star reviews. I agree with all of them. Not sure I can add anything more that's not been said already. This is IMO his best album, because it showcases his versatility and songwriting skills. The songs are all really good. I didn't hear any clunkers. His guitar tone is fantastic. His playing is mind-blowing. This is essentially a jazz-fusion album (with touches of blues, rock, etc.), but mainly fusion. Check out his solos, he comes up with unpredictable phrasings. You'll find it difficult to predict his next moves as he chugs along. This is just a great album. So pleasant to hear. The production is excellent.

A Diverse Collection of Rocking and Experimental Music
I liked most of the songs on Joe's most recent album, "The Elephants of Mars." In particular, the funky groove of "Blue Foot Groovy" and "E. 104th St NYC" were catchy, slow groove music, showing Joe's incredible virtuosity, not only in rock music, but in fusion, funk, R&B, and space/experimental music. The title track is decent, but I really love the lead-off song, "Sahara"; a great way to start rocking. "Faceless", "Tension and Release", and "Pumping" are all EXCELLENT rock songs, again showing just how much incredible riffing Mr. Satriani can accomplish on his Ibanez guitar. Honorable Mentions go to "Doors of Perception", "Sailing... Ganymede", and "Night Scene." I didn't care as much for the last 3 songs, but man, there is so much to respect about Joe's work. Grab this album when you can!
