COBI Historical Collection World War II USS TANG (SS-306) Submarine For 9+ years

This thing is awesome! Super high quality bricks, great box art and packaging, fantastic instructions. Made in Europe (Poland)! Need to be a bit patient with assembly, so maybe slightly older kids and up. I am addicted and will be buying more Cobi blocks.

Love submarines and I know the story of the Tang so I had to buy this kit. Easy to put together and a great finished product!

Got this for our son for his birthday and he absolutely loves it. He’s big into Legos, but we happened across these COBI bricks and they are great! Really good quality and very reasonably priced. He loves the military selection they have and has been buying sets like crazy!

I argued with myself over whether to give this 4 or 5 stars, so call it 4.5. This is a great product with lots of nice detail. Almost everything fits cleanly and tightly, and the final product is solid as a rock. So, why not a full 5 stars? There are just enough annoying "glitches" to hold it back. When I said "almost" everything fits cleanly, there were two pretty blatant exceptions. The propellers, even though they are supposed to spin, are located such that full rotation is blocked by part of the hull. Also, there are two hull plate pieces (one on each side) near the bow that I simply could not get to fit cleanly, leaving a pretty obvious gap between each of them and a next-door piece. The instructions also have some issues. They are well laid out, but the order of operations sometimes doesn't make sense. For example, the instructions show building the conning tower in-place on the deck. This turns out to be a convoluted process and it is much easier to mostly assemble it independently and then fit the whole structure on the deck. Also, the printing sometimes makes it hard to tell of a particular step requires black pieces or dark grey ones.

Great project to work on. Took a couple of hours, fun build.

Disappointed. Ordered for my grandson and the first delivery had a few missing and broken pieces. Returned it for replacement and received a used submarine with missing and broken pieces in a ziplock bag, torn taped box, and torn plastic bags. Looks like a used return. My grandson really wants this item. I returned again and I'm hoping for a good one this time, for him, please.
