Summer Brain Quest: Between Grades 3 & 4

Engaging for our gifted kid
We used the book for our upcoming 2nd grader gifted student who learns two grade levels ahead. This book has a theme that weaves the different subjects together (reading, writing, math, science). This way it is more engaging than other summer bridge books we tried, and also covers a good amount of the knowledge. The map is very motivating and she pushes her attention span limit to get multiple pages done at once. She feels excited to work on the problems when prompted or would start doing so without asking. I already purchased her the grade 4-5 book for the next summer.

Can I give it 4.5?
This is a fun book! The activities are interesting and varied. To me though, it seems like the language arts activities are a bit older than end of 3rd grade, and the math is too young for that level. Maybe it's just me. The only other con is that the page completion stickers are SOOOOO SMALL. They are very hard to place on the map. Regardless, it's still a great book and we're enjoying it.

Great review workbook
We have purchased the other grade level workbooks in the past by BrainqQuest and those were great content but kind of felt like a chore and the organization made it so that we couldn't just do the pages in order. We stopped purchasing them after grade 2 because my kids just weren't using them. These Summer workbooks are great because the pages are organized into levels with a good mix of different review subjects and you can just have the kids work on the pages in order. The workbook also comes with a page to put stickers on for every page completed. Very motivating for younger children especially. Our school district went on strike for a few days recently and one of my kids class wasn't even assigned any work because her class doesn't have a real teacher and only has a long-term substitute (our district is a gigantic mess, but we are okay).I pulled these workbooks out and both of my kids loved them. They were excited to see all the content that they've worked on already this school year, and even my other child who had worked on assigned school homework from his class wanted to do this in addition even though I told him he didn't need to.Great purchase, we'll continue to get these for the coming grades.
