I tested one on a spare IKEA shelf I had. I wiped the shelf down with a dry paper towel, peeled off the backing and stuck it to the shelf, working out the air. I let the hook sit for 24 hours at room temperature (68-70 F) and then hung a 2 pound weight on it (I know, not really stretching it limits) and put the shelf on its end so the weight was hanging. The hook held without issue for the 2 days I tested it. Since the removal directions are really bad here is how I remove the hook: To remove the hook I heated it with a heat gun (blow drier would work fine) on low until the hook was rather warm and used a knife to pull up a corner. I then slowly peeled the square up around the round button. Re-heating at least once would have made it go easier I think. Then I pressed on the hook a bit with one hand (not sure if it is necessary) and pulled up on one of the loose sides with the other hand. The hook left no residue behind and took none of the fake paper IKEA veneer off of the shelf. I would not reuse the hook again as the pad had bent from me pulling on it and the adhesive looked (though I did not test it) like it would not be as clear the second time around. If you did not (potentially) care about the clearness and could get the pad to lay flat again (using more heat during removal may help and it may lay flat again as it is but I did not check) you could use it again if you liked.

Use to hang wall decor

I used these to hang up coats and picture frames. They stick well and stay stuck. I haven't had a single one come un-done. I haven't tried peeling them off the wall yet, so I don't know if they'll damage the paint or not. I'm withholding the 5th star until I see how they come off. But if you're looking for a sturdy alternative to nails in the wall, these are great.

I have been trying to find a hook to use on my granite fireplace face to hold my large clock. I did not want to drill a hole. I tried all of the command hooks and none held for more than a day. This is NOT a quick remove style hook, but that as the problem with the others. This is designed to hold tightly without drilling holes. Will require some effort if I ever decide to remove it, but for now, it is holding tight.

I tried these after seeing the great reviews and after several fails with Command hooks. Go with these first! I bought to hang a canopy above my daughter’s bed. It has exceeded my expectations. If any issues with paint/damage if I decided to take it down, I’ll deal with that then. I’m just excited that it’s holding!!!
