This unit works fine and runs quiet. I credit it with pulling me through my bronchitis. It needs to be cleaned every three days to avoid bacteria, mold (whatever might grow in there) going airborne, thus countering the health benefits of the moisture. This unit is a major pain in the ass to clean, and there's next to no guidance in the manual. I dread it and put it off, leaving the unit idle while I stew over the whole ordeal. Knowing this, I would be inclined to buy a model that focuses on ease of cleaning. Maybe there's no such thing, and someone will need to invent one. If they do, I'll buy it.

The bad reviews for this thing almost made me skip it… But then so many others have even worse ones. If you are in doubt, BUY THIS THING!I specifically waited over 4 months to write this to make sure I wouldn’t run into issues with durability, and I gotta say I am super impressed. So much so, I am buying a second one!This thing has so many thoughtful details: the cutout on the side of the tank so it is easier to slide under a lower faucet (like the ones you have in your bathroom), the carry handle on the tank, the way the LED helps illuminate the remaining water, the way you can not only direct the mist, but split it so it goes in two directions, the grooves on the lid so that any excessive moisture falls back into the tank, the ease of cleaning…I live in SE AZ, so it’s dry here, and the water is super hard. I’ve had a few humidifiers, and this one is head and shoulders above. It looks like the atomizer is ceramic coated, so it doesn’t collect quite as much calcium residue, the plastic is very smooth on the inside, also making it less likely for things to cake on. Yes, it *does* release a lot of the “white dust” as these things are wont to do when your water contains a lot of calcium, and on the black matte finish, it shows. But for me, it is actually helpful cause when I start seeing the white scale on the outside, I know it is time for me to give the thing a good vinegar cleaning (about every three days). I have ADHD, so I am prone to forgetting and that can really shorten the life of these appliances.It is also whisper quiet. I hate hate hate white noise. This thing sits by the head of my bed, so I need it to be quiet. I was a little concerned that I could only put it on sleep mode, which is great, but it drastically reduces output, and with how dry it is here, and the fact that I try to stay at at least 50% humidity, that wouldn’t have worked. Even at its highest setting, though, it is still incredibly quiet.The hygrometer on the machine is also very good. I have a separate hygrometer to check that my orchids stay at the right level, and the readings match. Of course, I try to bring the humidity to 80%, which is nearly impossible with just one humidifier when the regular humidity is at like 10-15%. So this thing just sits there pumping. But the shut-off works — I know this cause when I spray my plants and the humidity goes past the setting, it does the thing. Note: this humidifier easily gets me to 50-60%, whereas others struggled to keep it at 30-35%.On an esthetic level, I love the sleek black look, as opposed to the hospital white that most of these appliances choose. Again, it does show the white powder, but that takes a few days, and it cleans off easy with a paper towel dipped in vinegar.

But why is the tank opaque where the MAX line is??? You can't see when the water level reaches the max line. I just fill until the clear bar to the side is totally full. On the bright side the totally opaque tank means no algae.Also to the folks saying the humidifier is leaving a fine white dust on the stuff around it, at least for me it was just a layer of super fine water droplets. It does look like a layer of white/silver dust though. I only had them on the body of the humidifier.Also also, very powerful humidifier. I removed the vent on the top so it's just a giant jet, and it's been able to raise the humidity in my desert apartment from 10% up to 50% if I keep it topped off and keep the windows closed.

No issues so far and I've run every night since I bought. works well at that price point.

UPDATE: Customer service reached out to me, and replaced one of the units and refunded the other one. I appreciate that they contacted me and wanted to remedy the situation.I recently bought 2 of these humidifiers. I love the look, sleek and simply! They worked perfectly for about 6 weeks, now both turn off constantly and won't stay on. I've double and triple checked everything. The humidity levels, timer, water level, etc. They simply have stopped working correctly.
