Update Aug 2024: I bought my first HuTools door lock in Jan 2021 and installed AA batteries from Costco. Three and half years later, it is still running on the same original batteries. Ours is a high traffic home, so door lock is in constant use multiple times a day. And I configured it to auto-lock after 30 seconds and it has worked flawlessly. Thank You HuTools for such an amazing no-frills digital key. I will buy few more soon.Original Review:It took me 15 minutes to remove my old lock and install the new lock. A day before I got my delivery, I got an email from Hu Tu Tools with a PDF of instructions - I followed the instructions and I was up and running in a few minutes. The instructions were very clear - the only problem I had was I had to keep walking to my desk to re-read the instructions and made mistakes on my end - once I followed the instructions, it was great. It took me more time to remove the old lock than to install the new one. I changed the auto-lock from default (99 seconds) to 30 seconds and verified it worked.Luckily for me, the lock fit my existing lock hole perfectly - I did not have to do any cutting or chiseling or anything of the sort. MY door is 1 3/4th" thick and it worked perfectly. I tried the lock and unlocks with the door opened a few times because I did not want to get locked out and once I was happy with the results, only then closed the door and let the deadbolt lock. The dark bronze color matches perfectly with my door.I am going to add more codes for rest of the family members and also make a copy of the master key just in case the battery dies and I get locked out.I researched for months to buy one to unlock/change codes from remote location but chose this for a) low cost b) I don't need remote access for my primary residence. This may not be good for vacation homes or Air BnBs where you will have to add/remove codes from remote - you have to be at the lock to add/remove/change codes.I will monitor for battery consumption and will update. I am hoping it will give a warning light before I have to change the 4 AA batteries it takes - only time will tell.

Installing the lock, programming the new access codes and structural sturdiness all were high quality and the instructions were were clear and well put together. For me though, I am most impressed by their customer service. We had a lock in our door functioning properly for six months and it started malfunctioning, which I wasn't too upset about --sometimes electronics go haywire and the key lock still worked fine. I emailed HuTools customer support describing the issue and they responded within a day. They asked me to perform some more extensive reset processes and I responded back that they were unsuccessful. HuTools immediately replied and informed me a new replacement lock is being mailed to me. The whole experience I had with their customer service was incredibly pleasant and helpful. I honestly don't know how it could have been improved from their end.One of the things I look for most in the Amazon reviews is what buyers have to say about a company's customer support and I give HuTools a 10.0/10.0 in this dept. To give more perspective I hardly give reviews on anything, and I hope this has been helpful.Here's a great follow-up after quickly being mailed a new lock. HuTools also sent a *30* year warranty on the lock. I'm sure I've never even heard of something like this. Wow. Mind. Is. Blown.

This is my second unit. It's a very nice quality product. The instructions are straight forward because it fits over my existing lock. No drilling. No cutting whatsoever. No keys to carry. Easy to install and use. Customer support is extremely very good and helpful. I recommended this product to my family, friends and neighbors.

The instructions are a bit confusing and getting it correctly coded takes patience. A friend had to help me .I love how the alarm works. I can tell when someone is coming in or trying to pick the locks. Makes me feel a lot safer. Love it locking for me too since i forget to lock the door and frequently misplace my keys and without keys i couldn't lock up my apartment.It also has a 30 yr warranty.I also paired it with a door sensor as an added security feature in case im in a deep sleep and someone tries to enter.Also i was the goofball who would lock the door and forget my keys were outside!Now no more worries.

The manufacturer was good in trying to help me, however, the item still did not work. As I was past the return timeframe because I bought it before I moved thinking it would be no problem I put myself in a bad position. While it would lock, it would not unlock. After contacting the vendor/manufacturer and going through the steps, it still did not work. I finally gave up and threw it out. It wasn't worth the amount of time.After I tossed the "HuTools" lock, I ordered a "Hugolog" lock which I have used in the past with rental properties. No issues as always with the Hugolog. I installed it in less than 20 minutes and had it programmed. I only went with Hutools because there was a sale on the lock. While their customer service for the company was responsive and I give them 5 stars, the product and amount of time wasted were not worth it. I ended up wasting several hours and losing whatever I spent on the item.

I'm glad I read the reviews on this beforehand, I made sure to read the directions a few times, and then I read them again. Followed them step by step to install, which was pretty easy. Installed this because my cat sitter was having problems using the keys to get in. This way it's all electronic and should be pretty easy for her. Looks great and feels great. Works great!

I just installed and tested this as a replacement for a normal deadbolt with a key on an exterior door. It was a straightforward install, and assembly, setup and testing were as per the instructions. And btw, the instructions were in large type, clear and accurate. This seems to be excellent value considering the price.I am an experienced home renovation person. One should be handy to install any door hardware. This is not just with this product-any door hardware needs to be installed accurately. I suspect some of the less than positive reviews are from incorrectly installed units.

The media could not be loaded. Box comes with qr code for instructions.All you need is a screwdriver to install this, I removed my existing dead bolt and this went in the same hole.The latch can be extended to fit your door.I find the beep annoying so I muted it.Also, auto lock feature is disabled from factory. I did activate it, but I wish the timer could be more than 99 seconds.No complaints so far. Will update review if there are any problems.

Easy to install, the only thing that was a disappointment is the indoor part of the electronic lock is black. I expected it to match the outside and the brushed silver door handle.

Was easy to install but the product itself is garbage it stops working and any new batteries I have tried do not work. Also in the cold weather -20 and above the key will not even work - its like the cold freezes the mechanical inside.
