They start out at about 14". I use them at 22" with regular boot socks. The clasp that controls the tension do not work on any of mine which allows a bit of looseness in the constrain of the shirt. I imagine at about 25" they are starting to get stretched a bit thin. And yes, if you saw the post that they rust, tis true on the socks
