HESI A2 Secrets Study Guide: HESI A2 Test Review for the Health Education Systems, Inc. Admission Assessment Exam

Review after taking HESI exam.
I have been using this study guide for the math portion only and quickly read over the other parts. I took the HESI A2 today and scored a 96 in math and an overall composite of 94. I would recommend this guide and you need to have internet access to use the videos provided in the study guide. The guide has a practice test that covered most but not all of the type of questions on the HESI. You need to know metric conversions and liquid measurements too(ounces) of one cup up to one gallon.EDIT: Also, make sure you can convert milligram(mg) to gram(g), convert fahrenheit to celsius, convert a 12 hour standard clock to 24 hour military time. Half of the test was add/subtract/multiply/divide fractions and several questions were ratio and proportion where you needed to solve for x. Example 2:8::4:x. If you can't do basic fraction and ratio and proportion do not bother taking the test because you will fail. Also, I had about 10 word problems that were not very hard. The test format just changed and I only had to take Math, Reading Comprehension, and the Nursing Critical Skills Thinking. I had 2.5 hours to complete all three tests and was not allowed to leave the room once it started. There is a basic calculator provided to you for the test. The math was 55 question, reading comprehension was 55 questions, and nursing critical thinking was 30. As I stated already the only thing I used to prepare me for the math was this study guide plus memorizing all the conversions. I would recommend you buying this and give yourself several weeks of studying before the exam.

Best study book I have gotten!
I LOVE this book. I relied solely on the Elsevier HESI exam review the first time I took the test and was very unprepared. I retake the exam tomorrow and already feel incredibly more confident. The book is detailed: not too detailed you're wasting time studying unimportant information, but detailed enough you know you're going to be learning the necessary information. I can't express how great the anatomy section is! It is very easy to understand and a great resource. I would highly recommend taking online practice tests/quizlets in addition to the book, as I think the book alone isn't enough to prepare a first time test taker; but, I think that it is a great resource to read and annotate as you begin studying. I also appreciated the sections in the beginning and end on tips for taking the test and testing anxiety. I cannot recommend enough, which is saying something as I spent $200+ in study materials and this was my most used.

I passed HESI A2 Exam!
I studied and I passed! Of course, if you need additional help, watch YouTube and do the “extra step” to search for answers. Good luck!

Just passed A2
I just finished taking the HESI A2 exam today and passed with a 94%! All I used was this book and practice tests online. Studied for about 2 weeks but not -intensely- until the last 3 days. What I liked about this book was the vocabulary and english portion. I think both matched the exam very well. This book also includes chemistry and biology although I did not have to take that part of the exam. (I accidentally spent a week studying for these two parts) The math portion I think is harder in this book than it is on the actual test. Make sure for the actual exam you focus a lot on ratios and proportions. The anatomy part of the exam was very specific, and I can't say it's easy for any review book to help with that part, but this book helps with the general concept of what you need to review. I enjoyed the practice test in the back with the explanation of the right AND the wrong answers. I have to say, this book and the online practice exams worked for me!

Great Study Material for HESI
This guide is good study material for the HESI exam. I took my HESI yesterday and got an overall 92% grade for the entire exam. Even though I don't think there is a book that covers everything this is a good start. Goes into details in every section. The MATH portion was spot on. Even though I studied this book 2 weeks before my test there are still some questions that wasn't covered in the text book especially on the AP part. You have to look over your AP 1/2 notes. Good luck everyone taking this test. You got this.

Just what I was looking for
It isn’t easy finding the right study guide or other product for the A2 exam. There are quite a few to choose from, but many of them are more like textbooks than study guides. I wanted something that was both in depth, but manageable, and easy to use and understand. Turns out, this is the book I was looking for. I have to admit I was hesitant to get it at first, because there are so many choices I was worried about not picking the right one, but finally decided I’d go with this book. I’m glad I did.If you’re worried that it’s not comprehensive enough and that you need a 600 page study guide that could double as a doorstop, you can relax. Like they used to say in the old spaghetti sauce commercial, “It’s in here.” The instructional portion of the guide has been researched and written professionally, and it’s quite extensive in its coverage. It’s sort of the Goldilocks approach to prepping for the A2 – not so little information that you’re left scratching hour head, and not so much that you’re overwhelmed and lost, but just the right amount of review to get you up to speed. Plus, there’s a great practice test included with answer explanations – so it’s pretty thorough. If you want to pass the A2, you won’t go wrong getting this study guide.

Buy this book for Hesi review!!
I’m writing this after taking the hesi in January of 2023. Overall I got an 87% on the test, which after googling “average hesi score” apparently anywhere from an 80-90 is above average! I thought this book REALLY helped out. I started out studying just by getting the blue Elsevier small review book which was really a basic overview then got this one because I knew I was going to need something to supplement. If you buy this book, make sure you use the ONLINE ADDITIONAL practice tests as I felt this book had the closest format to the actual test. The only section I didn’t do GREAT on was Biology (76%). Not sure if it was just the batch of questions I got or if I was tired by the end but I felt many of the biology questions I had were not in ANY of the study material and I studied with 3 different resources. Good luck!!!
