Light Pad is great
Although I won't handle my first project with the light pad for about a month, I've received it and can disclose the following... The light box is quite nice. Neatly made, not even 1/4" thick. Made of what seems to be plexiglass or plastic, and not bendable. It comes with a cable which has USB on one end and micro USB on the other end. The light box uses a micro USB connection, and I've purchased a charge source / battery box from Best Buy which, after being charged, has been tested and works nicely with the light, plugging the USB end of the Light Pad's cable into the battery source. Should last for hours. There is a "G" on the upper right side of the light pad. Touch it once to turn the pad on lowest power. This is plenty for most purposes. But if you touch it again you get a medium light, then a bright light, then OFF.They even supplied several tracing papers, for the pleasure of those who like tracing work. I plan to use this for 5D diamond painting, to backlight the painting areas adequately so I can read the tiny numbers even in darker locations. For those few that complained about seeing the even pattern of all those light dots that keep the board well lit, I found that once I put a piece of tracing paper on top of the board, the dots disappear. So it shouldn't be distracting. Unfortunately, nobody warranties things long enough to find out if merchandise is defective, and Amazon has too short a warranty for things that may fail soon after using. This is a possibility, but I like the board so much that I will take that chance. Your board makes a firm foundation on which you can perform various tasks requiring a lit background. One more thing, I checked the light when outside, and found that it is still possible to use the backlight, probably the strongest light, even in a sunny outdoor environment. It can still be useful outdoors. With a portable battery, I am entirely portable. Enjoy yours!

lightweight, bright, and portable
In my hobby of scrolling, I frequently need to trace patterns, either to make changes to pre-existing patterns or to develop my own designs. I find a lightbox useful because, with one, I don't have to spend a lot of money on tracing paper. A lightbox allows me to trace my design on ordinary typing or copy paper. My old light box was light by a fluorescent tube and was quite bulky. It was basically a metal box with a white translucent plastic lid and a light inside. The kind of thing you saw in the movies hanging on the wall for displaying x-ray pictures. After many years, the electric cord had deteriorated and the insulation had cracked leaving the bare wire exposed and capable of shorting out and either blowing a circuit breaker or causing a fire. before going to the trouble of rewiring it, I decided to shop for a new model and this was the first one I found. The first thing I noticed was that this light box was about the size, weight and thickness of an ordinary clipboard. The next thing was that the power cord was the same kind as I used to charge my Kindle and cellphone. I could plug it into my computer or a plug in power supply. This means that I can carry it almost anywhere and use it anywhere there is a flat surface to support it and a nearby electric outlet. It has three levels of brightness, so I tested it and found that the brightest level is bright enough that I can easily trace onto a sheet of cardstock or heavy water color paper. There is only one drawback, the power switch. The power switch is made to come on, change light levels, and turn off at the passing of a finger over an icon. In tracing any pattern, when it is necessary to approach the image from many directions, if your hand accidently passes over the switch, the light will go out or, if you are using a lower setting, change intensity. Since I prefer to use the brightest level, the light usually goes out. This means that I have to stop drawing, often in midstroke, and reset the light level. It only takes a second or two, but it is a nuisance, and that is the only reason this device gets four instead of five stars. Otherwise, this is a wonderful tool for the artist or craftsman.

So handy for a great price
I got this on a lightning deal a couple of weeks ago and I'm really happy with it. I use it for diamond painting and it has been a game changer. I can work so much faster when I don't have to strain to make out symbols. I use it on the lowest setting about 90% of the time and the 2nd setting just to do black areas when it's a little harder to make sure my rows are straight. The dots on the pad aren't visible through the canvas so that's not a problem and I'm glad to have it be easier on my eyes if that's what it does. As someone else noted it's definitely brightest along the side with the power button so that must be where the bulb is. To get even, allover lighting there would have to be bulbs on each side and/or bulbs underneath the entire pad which would be much more expensive. It's only 4mm thick so it goes without saying it won't withstand rough treatment. I tripped over the cord while using it and it bent the piece plugged into the pad at a 90° angle and broke off in the pad. I easily pulled it out and threw away the cord and replaced it with one of my phone charging cords. I didn't buy it for the cord and would have happily paid the same amount for the light pad on its own so I'm not bothered by that and it was my own fault anyway. I'm just glad the pad is still usable.
