The House That Cleans Itself: Creative Solutions for a Clean and Orderly House in Less Time Than You Can Imagine

Lengthy Christian drivel, no practical tips
Let me start off by saying I have absolutely no problem with folks practicing whatever religion they wish. However, if I buy a book on "house cleaning" I expect it to be about house cleaning, not evangelizing Christianity. The book is very long and has very basic advice. The system is very convoluted, the author is quite boring, and the constant references to the Lord, Jesus, and prayer do absolutely nothing to add value to the book. There's even an ENTIRE CHAPTER devoted to a guide on a "prayer walkthrough". This is not useful in any way, and only serves to make the book needlessly longer.Don't waste your time. Watch a 10 minute YouTube video with some house organization tips and you'll get far more value, all for free.

Have a house that cleans itself ?
Ok Clutters like me, here is your new "Bible" This book is a systematic approach to de-cluttering your house or apartment with realistic steps to make it happen. With every chapter there is a funny story about a Messy house. They are really hilarious. . One involved a messy bedroom which the young woman sneaked into at h er party and then stepped on the adhesive in a sanitary napkin. Out she came with not toilet paper but the whole pad stuck to her shoe. You'll want to look for the husband who found something unusual in his Wheaties box! It is a motivator for each of us. Now if I could finish those UFO's knitting projects, I'd have a chance with this system.

Amazing. ... truly amazing.
I wouldn't say that I am "housekeeping impaired" but I definitely needed a few tips to keep my house a little more orderly. Not only did I love the way Mindy wrote this book but I also love how she was able to identify with people that are not naturally talented housekeepers. I felt like she knew me personally as I read about the problems that perfrectionists have (the "all or nothing" mindset we have) when it comes to MAINTAINING a clean house. It made me feel a little more normal as I thought I was the only one that had this problem! Hahaha! I have already recommended this book to all of my friends. I just found out that Mindy wrote another new and improved "The House That Cleans Itself" and I am going to purchase it immediately!

Create Systems for Your House that Support Your Life!
I completely related to this author and this book from the first page. And I read LOTS of organizing books. This is my favorite, hands down. House cleaning does not come naturally to me--I am a big picture kind of gal, I like novel things (boo unloading dishwasher every day...it just has to be done again tomorrow), and have a hard time being task-oriented when it comes to mundane things.Mindy didn't set out to write a housecleaning book. The idea came to her while researching a character for one of her Christian mystery books about a household cleaning tips guru! She basically breaks down the house into "zones" and then has you go through the house section by section and gather "evidence" for what is causing the issues for that area. For instance, lots of shoes by the front door means there is no place to store shoes and there needs to be. Then, you do the standard sort/toss clutter/find places for everything. You also set up systems in each area to streamline and support whatever your household management goals. If you go room by room, this entire project can take months.I loved this book. Some of the suggestions were so unique and quirky, only a fiction writer could have dreamed them up. That being said, I think some readers might find some of the suggestions a bit strange and uncomfortable...so it is probably not for everyone. However, if you are housecleaning challenged, are comfortable with complex processes (think that makes things more interesting even!), like working with ideas more than things...well, this could be your book.

I can throw anything away!
She gets it. Besides people who hoard, i don't think the problem people truly have is a cluttering problem but a maintainence problem. Clutter seems to be a symptom not a cause. This book can really open your eyes to what you are doing wrong in house keeping. It can show you And encourage you to Do it right..it really does show you How to figure out How to organize your home so it stays easier to keep clean. I can't express How much easier it is. If you read this book cover to cover it could Change your life,

Great approach to houseclaning
I love the concept of this book--don't change the way you basically operate ( you won't be able to sustain that change anyway). Instead change your environment to make housekeeping tasks easier. While not all the suggestions in the book would be practical for me, I found many that were. Also the approcah of the book got my creative juices flowing and I found some of my own solutions to my worst clutter problems. I also really appreciated the perspective that you should be the one to decide how clean and orderly you want your house to be, rather than living up to some standard. This book probably would not be of much interest to someone who loves to clean and takes great pride in perfection. However, for someone like me who wants a lovely, orderly home, but does not really enjoy making it so and wants to spend as little time doing so as possible, this book was great!
