"Produced good fog and fun lighting
This is basically for Aaron, who hasn't given up yet.... "Produced good fog and fun lighting, limited life-span in my experienceBy Aaron - August 15, 2013"Ok, so here's my assessment. Bought it, got it, tried it, loved it! worked awesome!! :-), and,... then it did the same thing you described. Wth didn't I listen!?... then I thought back to your final words and remembered I did... Having read your thoughtful review prior to purchase, I kinda panicked initially, and then I quickly got to the bottom of that shitte. What worked for me was, after insuring all visible wiring, attachments etc.... looked to be intact and in order, I picked up the remote and feverishly began pressing random buttons in like fashion... it worked..... then, I reviewed. Toggling the "Mist Volume Control" is what does it. Best as I can figure, this is a potential issue with any of this type of device, sometimes the disk has an issue starting at a specific frequency in relationship to the water it's placed in?... this "tension?" is broken (for me) by simply pressing the - or "+" button with regard to the afore mentioned, and making sure the remote is pointed at the body of the inline control unit housing the main power switch. I test this by seeing if I can turn the lights on or off...For you, good luck X) ... & everyone else, I dig it!!! It does all kinds of cool stuff with the lights & it really does crank out the mist! :-)Hope this helps.M.

Very happy with this purchase
Very happy with this purchase! I had an older version of this item which had stopped working after several years and even putting in a new ceramic disk didn't help. I wanted to replace it but had a terrible time finding a unit which would allow me to turn off the light and just have the mist if I wanted to do so. Since the fountain is in my bedroom, I have found that sometimes having the light on all night can disturb my sleep. I found plenty of replacement units which did not have the on/off feature, but this was the only place I found one that had it. I purchased it, it was shipped promptly, and it's been working perfectly ever since. I run it every night, all night, I live in a very dry climate and it's helpful to have the humidity. The wireless remote is a big plus, as is the ability to change the lighting pattern as well as being able to turn the lights on or off. I have found having it on a steady all-red setting is very relaxing.

Really spices up the old fogger bowl with the pretty colors. Replacement is a downgrade!
My mother loves the various color patterns. Really spices up the old fogger bowl with the pretty colors. Was great for 6 months and the first time moved it it just stopped working! Moved it from one counter to another.. Unplugged it and moved it. Now it will not fog and finally I tried to feel it in the water as a final test and there is nothing but LED lights the unit is dead! The remote itself even stopped working and as the cord has no buttons on it to change modes all we got is no blue LED lights as default color. The quality is not well made and does not last long!UPDATE! The replacement that I paid for is a serious downgrade! No light patterns and does not even work! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!Had to downgrade review to 3 stars for not working and reading warranty they will replace it but shipping is on us? So the buyer has to pay for defective product shipping.

Produced good fog and fun lighting, limited life-span in my experience
After reading other reviews for this product I was somewhat ecstatic as I had needed a fogger with remote to maintain humidity in a controlled environment. All of the previous reviews for this product have been very positive (which seemed rare for most of the ultrasonic mist makers on Amazon, thus pushing me toward this product).Anyways, I ordered one unit and after it arrived I unwrapped the product and found it very easy to put together and use. There are essentially 4 things out of the box, the fogger unit, an inline speed/color control, a remote control, and an AC adapter. After simply plugging the pieces together as is outlined in the manual the unit began to work well. I would guess that I had it operational in approximately 4-7 minutes including time spent reading the manual, which honestly I could have done far less in-depth and still known all there was to know. The remote on this unit is great, there are multiple different color controls (many different settings including red, blue, yellow, single and or multi-color fade light, multi solid light, strobe, etc) as well as a few different "speeds" of mist creation (although in my experience these speeds are somewhat indiscernible from each other). All of these settings can easily be controlled via supplied remote from a max distance of ~10 ft.That being said it may seem somewhat perplexing as to why I gave this product a low rating. Well, here is that part of my review:After running the unit at a low stress-intermittent setting for 2 days (approximately 45 minutes at a time, four times per day) I set the unit to its first "trial" of running for 6 hours straight. It was at that point the unit failed quite miserably, and also why this product has earned the lowest Amazon rating I have ever given anything, ever. The situation I was/am facing is that the lights continue to work, but no mist is produced. Being somewhat familiar with ultrasonic based humidifier components I set to trouble shooting. It is of note that I used tap water instead of distilled water to run this unit, however, I have had ultrasonic type humidifiers in the past and mineral build up had/has never been an issue. Although, due to the nature of this problem I did initially try soaking the ceramic atomizer disc in vinegar to remove any potential mineral deposits (although again, visually there were none). Upon reinstalling the disc there was still no noticeable activity, and certainly no fogging.I then transitioned to different outlets in my home to troubleshoot for any potential electrical based pitfalls. However, at every outlet the lights continued to work but no fog was produced. Seeing as neither of these simple solutions worked I scurried to the internet to check for any innovative solutions, and essentially came to the conclusion that either I needed to try distilled water (which I was/am fairly certain is not the problem) or that I had a fault somewhere in my electrical circuit causing the disc to not have enough power to oscillate properly. Given that the unit had worked well a few days prior I opted to try distilled water, however, as many of you may of guessed by the tone of this review distilled water did not recompense the situation.I then set out to check and see if I have/had an internal power problem. I did this by putting in the suggested amount of water in a container (~18mm above the water sensor as is recommended in the manual for the unit's maximum efficiency) and then I gently pressed down on the ceramic atomizing disc with a glass stirring rod, essentially to see if I could feel/hear/see any vibration taking place. The lights remained on, pleasantly shining in the water, and there I was with zero movement on the stirring rod indicating to me that I had a pretty dead unit after <24 total hours of use spread over the course of three days. Now as far as I am concerned I am left with a remote controlled multicolored water lamp (not really useful for much of anything).Honestly I gave this two stars instead of one because I am still not convinced this unit is entirely lost, or that I have not had an oversight somewhere along the line. I intend to keep scouring for solutions, as I really do want to have a humidifier with a remote as well as inline control. This unit is one of the most affordable options with those features, and if anyone has any thoughts as to how I can fix this please let me know. Thanks for your time everyone!

Not enough mist
I bought the mismaker especially for the remote which works okay. But it gives out very little mist compared to all the other ones that I've had. I've already ordered a different one without a remote.
