Clever Logic Puzzle
This tactile logic puzzle works well for those with strong spatial reasoning skills. Decoding the puzzle cards takes a little practice, especially since the globe is represented as a two-dimensional image. It can be challenging to find where each piece goes, even for setup.Puzzles range from easy to expert in four different levels. The younger set will likely find the easy puzzles more palatable. Each type of piece is a different shape and color, and players are challenged to fill the entire globe given a specific configuration of pieces. The pieces have a fun texture and are cleverly designed to allow you to see one of the numbers corresponding to the individual globe faces underneath the piece.Putting the puzzle away is not easy as I would like, especially since it requires putting pieces in a certain configuration on the globe face before and after putting several inside of it. At least it is self-contained. As a fair warning to those hoping to gift a wrapped copy of this, ours was shipped directly in the puzzle packaging. There was no separate cardboard box to obscure it.

Very creative puzzle; setting up and undoing moves can be challenging
I've been a fan of Thinkfun since they were Binary Arts, and I got used to their puzzles with storage bags. So I was disappointed when I got this and saw that this doesn't come with one. Then, I was hoping the puzzle might be self-containing for storage, so I wouldn't have to hang on to the box. And (yay!) it's possible to store it by itself! But it's a very specific setup shown in the instructions, so I recommend keeping the instructions out of the deck of cards, and then putting them back in last minute when ready to close the "globe." This isn't a game where you can just toss the pieces in a bag and go, so that does take a bit of the convenience away with putting it away being so specific, but it's also creative. (But I feel like I have to cross my fingers that the exterior pieces stay securely on.)On to play! Older players may wish to skip a skill level or so. I found with the early puzzles, it took more time to set them up than to solve them. The 3D-ness (for lack of a better word) of the "globe"/30-sided die makes setup a bit confusing. Perhaps it would be a bit easier if the numbers were a contrasting color, but it's still challenging to think spatially when setup is represented on a 2D card.Another thing I feel worth mentioning is that this isn't as convenient as a slide puzzle-type game (like their modern classic Rush Hour), because with a sliding puzzle you can always solve things even if things go horribly awry. Or, think of a Rubik's Cube. No matter how mixed up that gets, there's a way to solve it. That's not the case with this puzzle. If you put pieces in the wrong spots, you may have to start over, referring to the setup card again to know which pieces were originally there. And, as mentioned, setup isn't super easy. That's my main quibble with the puzzle, is it's not convenient compared to some other games. I think it's incredibly clever, but the way it works can be a bit frustrating during setup and when pieces aren't placed properly. That doesn't mean it's not a fun puzzle. I just wish it were easier to set up and to undo mistakes.

Fun, but not lasting fun.
Our son really likes this and it is fun for him but it is not something that he goes back to like other puzzles. It is a neat thing to own and keep on a shelf but don't expect any huge interest after a while.

Challenging 3D puzzle for slightly older kids or adults
The Geologic puzzle is like a 3D tangram. The set is pretty well thought out, however, it would have been nice to be able for everything to fit into the globe for travel; the cards and pieces don't fit. The quality of the pieces are good and the texture to the different pieces provides tactile feel. Generally the puzzle pieces fit together but every once in while, they can be hard to remove. The recommended age seems about appropriate, the pieces are breakable, but not fragile so younger kids may break the tabs. The puzzle is pretty fun working together with kids to solve the tougher ones. The challenge definitely gets harder as it progresses, even for adults who like these kinds of puzzles. The price is very reasonable for a unique game like this. The numbers on the 30 sided die could be a lot more legible and can be challenging to read in low light. It is pretty easy to pick up and figure out, so it has been left out to play with for 5 minutes, or an hour. Recommended!

Super fun game!
The media could not be loaded. This can be intriguing and overwhelming at first but trust me its quite fun to play and it makes you think. While it’s recommended for an 8 year old kid, it can be challenging for adults as well, it’s really nice to have and comes handy when you’re bored, it makes your time pass really fast but worth it as your making your brain work. I highly recommend this if you want to exercise your mind once in a while and it is not that expensive!
