This is exactly what I wanted! I remember the 80s/90s growing up and seeing these types of weights everywhere and they are just like those. I don't like the look and feel of other new fancy and expensive products... If you're looking to buy something more modern with frills and bells and whistles, just think - a weight is a weight, no duh. Some people have complained that the weights are loose, well no, you set it down sideways so the weight pushes it down, then tighten the clamp. Me personally, I like leaving them a little loose, I like the feel of the clanking around and hearing the sound as I do reps, it doesn't bother anything, really. The clamps are easy to tighten, you do them by hand, no tools needed.Ships fast, looks cool... old school.

This is the best “bare bones” dumbbell set I could find online. The equivalent CAP set is only 40lbs and has foam separators. The equivalent Domyos are $80. One tiny copper piece on the twist-clip was missing and the company sent out a new part immediately. As mentioned, they don’t have the cheap foam middle so you’ll probably want to add your own grips or tape which looks cooler anyway.Get them and start getting fit right away!

I attended USC with the founder's son, Ivan, and in the summer of '93, while we were living in the Fiji house, Ivan gifted me a Dumbbell set (as with a curl bar, a bar bell/weight plates) that resembles this very kit.I was hesitant about buying these from Amazon, but my apprehension was alleviated when the box arrived. This kit arrived in like near-new condition. These Dumbbells are an excellent entry-level kit. Great price, great product and a must have for home-based workouts.If you're wondering about the equipment that Ivan gifted me, sadly those pieces were stolen in '03.

The handles and clamps add an extra 5ish pounds to each side. Well worth $50.00.

The chrome plated bar has different collars and handle on the more expensive option. The bar rolls under the handle on the cheaper model. It works and if I didn't know any better, I wouldn't know that there was better. I may try to stabilize it by packing some material in there to tighten things up. I thought that the differences would be merely cosmetic, but it is more than that. Also, don't leave iron out in the rain. It will rust.

For 50 dollars these are well worth it. Solid weights topped with speedy delivery, overall a great buy. My only complaints are that it smells terrible and it was kinda oily.
