UPDATE: This replacement cell lasted less than 1 year.Original Review: I used this to replace a Hayward T-Cell-5 on an AquaTrol AQ-TROL-RJ. Installation was super simple and I didn't need to reprogram my control panel. If I remember correctly, the old cell lasted a little more than three seasons. I run the pump continuously and have the cell producing chlorine at about 80% 12 hrs a day, so I know I put a heavy demand on the cell. Still, for the price, I wish it lasted longer. I have a 15K gal. above ground pool. Lots of hot weather and summer rain in our area. I would have purchased a higher capacity cell, but Hayward customer support told me that the Cell-5 is the only cell that works for my AQ-TROL-RJ. Don't forget that you will need to add CYA even with a salt system or your chlorine will just evaporate.

Our original salt cell lasted for about 6-8 years and then died. We knew because the pool started growing green algae on the bottom which it never does and the salt reading was wrong on the generator computer.We began the search for a new salt cell including getting a quote from the local pool store for $1,700!!! The store staff assured me if I don’t buy one from the pool store that I won’t have the warranty or repair option. There’s no way I’m paying $1,700 for just the cell.I searched on Amazon and this one had great reviews and was $650. It arrived earlier than expected and works great. The pool was perfectly clear in less than 24 hours.I’m hoping to get another 5+ years but time will tell.June, 2025 update- Checking back in a year later. This cell is still functioning wonderfully. Highly recommend!

The last one we bought lasted 6 years. It is easy to install and needed no calibration. Wirh our controller we are locked into using only this cell. It was more than enough capacity for our 24 ft pool.

On opening the box the unit was damaged and unable to be installed. Item returned As pictured the casing was cracked and terminals were bent and not aligned for installation
