It does a really good job of gripping. I carry almost anything and everything in my bag and it held it very well.

I was loving this product and its nice to look at but then the little bolts came off and it just fell apart, I put it back together but it isn't sturdy enough to use! I don't trust the other one now because my bag was hanging on it when it broke and dropped my bag. It was a small bag and wasn't heavy! I only used it a couple times.
