If you don't know the history of this pepper its worth googling.Complex floral pepper aroma all in a very good way. This spice has an umami flavor but not overpowering and a mild pepper flavor not unlike black peppercorns. On a salad people will notice its special flavors.Physically not like black peppercorns at all. It looks like a small wheat head with small roundish kernels.You must have some type of grinder to break the pepper kernels from the stem. A pepper grinder will not do this! I have a cheap small electric coffee bean grinder that works perfectly. I find a Mortar and Pestle is time consuming and has mixed results grinding it down.

Delicious, fragrant long pepper. My fiance loves black pepper, I decided to gift this to him after seeing a youtube short about long pepper being used by ancient Romans. Now he only wants long pepper because the flavor is so much more intense and rich. High quality, fresh long pepper and will be back for more.

While fresh and of high quality, this Long Pepper has a sharper, brighter and less savory flavor when compared to black peppercorns, while the Long Pepper I got from a different supplier had a deeper, earthier flavor.The clusters of this version are also smaller by half and less granular than the ones I used to get, which probably means it's a different cultivar.In fairness the description of this product on Amazon is very accurate, I just (wrongly) assumed that the product copy was either lost in translation, or written by someone who hadn't actually tasted it, lol.

delicious! a must try if you only used black pepper

I got these peppers after watching tasting history , and had to give them a try. The flavor of these is incredibly deep , sharp but not terrifyingly how , with a complex flavor that reminds me at once of white pepper , smoked paprika and fresh cracked black pepper. It has a lasting , smooth and strong taste that works well with or burgers and steaks , roast chicken, potato soup or southern fried chicken. The price was super and ground fresh they are going to last a while , I have used up 20 or so and the bag is still mostly full. They shipped in 3 days I think and I will definitely reccomend them !

Perfect; I grind it with equal parts of black peppercorn. It about twice as hot as regular black peppercorn.

I am so excited to use this in my cooking, This is my first experience with Long Pepper but it is a beautiful and fragrent spice that is certainly going to elevate all of my recipes.

I grind these up and use them in a shaker. I like these better than regular pepper because they are a bit more spicy. Which I really like.
