This is a firsthand account; a rare & unique insider's view
This book, coupled with Taylor Marshall's "Infiltration of the Catholic Church" is probably one of the most riveting, page-turning and important reads that a concerned Catholic can read today. Father Murr is an excellent storyteller; I first heard this account when he was interviewed by Taylor Marshall about the book, and his self deprecating humor, and that twinkle in his eye makes him instantly trustworthy and lovable - and his insider's vantage point during the early 1970s in the Vatican is a treasure that no one should miss! This is the second book I've read by him. The first was "The Godmother" about Pascalina, the "right hand of Pope Pius the 12th", equally readable.

Amazing book, good narrator
I purchased both the ebook and audiblebook of this title. Initally, I was confused, because the Preface in the audiobook is different from the one in the ebook. Listen to and read them separately. Otherwise, this book is amazing. The narrator does a very good job with the many languages and accents used in the book. He’s not perfect, but believable. I appreciated his efforts. As for the book itself, WOW. What a tale. It breaks my heart to hear it, and motivates me to pray for the Church even more than I have been. Thank you, Father Murr, for sharing this all with us. May the truth come out someday, and may the Freemasons in our Church be purged or converted, as Christ wishes. The good thing is, we all know who wins this battle. The Blessed Mother’s Immaculate Heart will triumph.

A must read for every catholic
Fr Murr shares sensitive information and his personal first hand experience of the inner workings of the Vatican in the late 70’s and of the masonic plot to destroy the catholic church from within. He discloses how a few of his close conservative clergy friends managed to save the church and the Vatican Bank from falling victim to scoundrels after Vatican II and the sudden death of Pope John Paul I . It will make you feel better to know that Fr Murr and his friends are among the faithful believers who dedicated their life for the good of the enduring roman catholic church and rite.

Intriguing, Indeed.
Page turner!! Nothing like this since Malachi Martin.

You've heard Freemasons infiltrated the Church, now learn to what fatal extend they did so.
I recently finished reading Fr. Charles Murr's, Murder in the 33rd Degree. In his book, Fr. Murr recounts the years of his early priesthood in Rome in the mid-1970's and during which he was in the close company of Abp. Edouard Gagnon, the man St. Pope Paul VI appointed to investigate the infiltration of the Roman Curia by well-placed Freemasons. To anyone who reads Fr. Murr's account, remember there are men with less than honorable intentions in every institution, every denomination, and every government. Sadly this is true even in the Catholic Church, and particularly so in the hierarchy most closely associated with the Vatican. Do not be scandalized by the politicking and ugly underbelly of some in the hierarchy. It is also important to recall that among while there are indeed many who have infiltrated the hierarchy, there remain many faithful men committed to Christ and Holy Mother Church. Be strong in the faith and you will be able to quickly identify the wolves among the shepherds. Keep the faith. In the words of Abp. Fulton Sheen: “Who’s going to save our Church? It’s not our bishops, it’s not our priests and it is not the religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that the priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops, and the religious act like religious.”25 September 1978 -Abp. Gagnon to Pope John Paul I (Albino Luciani): "Archbishop Bugnini directed the liturgical reforms after the Council, going far beyond the mandate of the Council Fathers, in effect creating new liturgical and sacramental rites. He welcomed Protestant scholars to take part in his "renewal" of the Roman liturgy, a renewal that seems rather to be a reinvention. Liturgical "experimentation" has been rampant, making a plaything of the most solemn rites of the Church. And he presided over this revolution."For those who may be unaware, Abp. Bugnini was in effect fired by Pope Paul VI when he was found to be a Freemason and exiled to Tehran.

Spell-bound
Excellent book about the inner workings of the Vatican. Fr Charles Murr was an eye-witness to history making events affecting the entire modern day Catholic Church. Written with authenticity.

Great Read!
In this book Fr. Murr tells the story of dear priestly friends and companions engaged in a very dramatic period in the history of the church. It is an account of an investigation to infiltration by Freemasons in the Roman Curia conducted by Archbishop Edouard Gagnon and his efforts to reveal his findings to three pontiff's. Father Murr tells a fascinating story, the warmth of the characters make them memorable a stark contrast to the dark characters. A must read to help understand the state of the church in our time.

Gripping Read
Well-told tale, like a buddy story mixed with a spy thriller about clerics. Quick read.
