Well made
I use this pump for my whole house pulling from a 5000 gal rain water harvest system. It has performed very well and meets all my needs can run shower sink and washing machine at the same time without flow problems great water pressure holding at 40-45 psi. This pump will need a back-flow valve to hold your prime. The pump is cast iron, that being said if your over tighten your water intake connection you can split the metal. Make sure to follow the directions and use thread seal tape liberally in lieu of over tightening and you should have a leak free connection. Overall great pump.

Nice! Works Great
Good unit. I use it for the hoses, to water the trees and plants. It runs for a 1/2 hr to a hour at a time. Would work good for a cabin. It would work for a house, but you would probably want a bigger tank. EZ to hook up.

Easy to install, appears to function well.
Arrived quickly and was easy to install. Used to pump lake water to a rustic cabin. Provides very good water pressure to the cabin which is 60 feet uphill of the lake. Pump is one month old and time will tell if it will last. So far so good, it is replaces a Gould pump which lasted over forty years but a new Gould cost 4 times as much as this pump. Pump mount on top of bladder tank is pretty flimsy and rocks a bit when the pump turns on. The pump is half the weight of the pump it replaced, if it lasts half as long, I will be very satisfied.

Great for off grid homestead
This is a perfect pop for an off grid Homestead. We have solar panels with battery back up and love the fact that it doesn’t consume too much power but it gives us plenty of water pressure so if we are using the water hose outside and washing our hands inside there is no change in water pressure. This is a very solid pump. I’m sold!!!

Do not order if there is any chance you need to return
I contacted Red Lion customer support and asked about the required gallons per minute for my cabin. The recommendation was a pump rated for 1 gallon per minute for each fixture in the house. I purchased this pump because it’s rated for 12.6 gallons per minute and I have 12 outlets. I have since found out that that rating is only for 5 foot of lift and the lowest output pressure of 30 psi. I received the item. It has not even been unboxed. I attempted to return it, and it is unreturnable Even though it hasn’t even been unboxed.

Junk
I was able to get this to work once. It took hours to get it to prime, and it lost its prime after a few minutes of being shut down. I've yet to get it to move water a second time. My application isn't a shallow well, but a 2,000 gallon rainwater collection tank feeding an irrigation system. Plumbing the inlet of the pump directly to the bottom of the tank should make priming it painless. Nope.Edit: I discovered that my check valve was leaking by contributing to the loss of prime. Upon replacement, it again worked. Once. Now I can't get it up to 50 in less than 10 minutes while feeding it pressurized city water. Once there, I hook it back up to the rain barrels and try to start watering. Works great until it uses all the pressure up. It pumps at maybe one gallon per hour. So much for Red Lion being a reputable brand.Second edit: I rebuilt the pump and it has since performed as expected. Leaving the rating at 3 stars as it shouldn't have been so difficult to prime, especially if the pump internals aren't robust enough to survive the process.

Pretty darn unit
Pretty easy to install just before to get a one way valve that way you don't lose prime . Works great one 120 and is an energy saver on our solar system coming in at only 367 watts .

Strong and quiet
We purchased a house and discovered that it had a private well for garden irrigation. The previous owners pretty obviously had never used it and had forgotten to mention it at all so when we found it in the undeveloped back part of the property the old 3/4 hp pump was in bad shape and needed replacing. I actually ordered this one without noticing that it was 1/2 hp instead of 3/4 hp so I was concerned that we’d have less water pressure than the old pump we were replacing. In actuality this pump, with the pressure tank, is more than capable of drawing water up the shallow well but also pushing that water not only up a 15-20 foot slope to our main yard but also through another 150 feet of garden hose with plenty of pressure to spare so we’re able to water all the various garden areas in our yard. The unit also works very quietly.
