The Girls Who Stepped Out of Line: Unsung WWII Heroines Who Risked Everything for Freedom Review: Great book. - All young women over 10 should this book! Review: Amazing Women of Greatest Generation - The stories of women who were code breakers, spies, resistance fighters and true trail blazers in fields considered male only venues were inspiring. Women of the greatest generation who were to be admired for their courage, perseverance and can do attitude. The book and its stories were a five star until the end. The author ends the book by mentioning the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, AOC and Greta Thunberg. None of these individuals accomplished or endured what the women of the greatest generation experienced. Mentioning them in the pages of this book alongside these other women is an insult.

Exciting, Inspiring, Eye-opening
I thoroughly enjoyed Major General Mari K. Eder's collection of stories about women who "stepped out of line" during WWII to put their talents to use, challenge bigotry and prejudice, and save lives. Her book celebrates women whose accomplishments during the war were swept under the rug due to prejudice. You learn of the courage of Resistance fighters, women who rescued Jews and others persecuted by the Nazis, flyers, cartographers, nurses, spies, and the 6888th Postal Battalion who saved fighting morale - all overcoming impossible odds with courage, discipline, insight, determination, and compassion. Eder's research and sources are reliable and extensive, her writing itself is clear and exciting, while her extensive array of the various roles women played is convincing. An enjoyable and inspirational book.

This is a great book about women who made a difference
This book was about women who stood up and made a difference who fought anti-Semitic movement. What a great tribute to the women who served in WWII. However I took a few stars away for the fact the other list Rep. Ilhan Omar as a great woman forging for women. While Rep Omar deserves the honors listed. Its just not a place for her in this book. Maybe a different book but this one is a slap in the face of the women who fought so hard to free the Jewish people. She is on record for anti-Semitic rants. Its tragic because this was a great book. But it is disservice to those whom this book is meant to honor to have her Rep Omar listed with these women. Like I said, she should be honored for her achievement in other ways but this book isnt the place.

Amazing
Heavy read- but so inspiring as a woman. This book is massive proof that women are on another level. They definitely stepped up during WWII and then when they were shoved back into traditional gender roles after the war. They went from being total no-quit badasses to the traditional housewife, then still fought for what they wanted out of life, (never letting their badass-ery flames die) clearing the way for those of us today to do whatever the heck we want. It was so invigorating to see what women can live through and made me realize that despite our build, we are SO strong, mentally and physically with what these women lived through. For the first time in my life it made me proud to be a woman, and I think all young women and girls need to read this book to really see what we are capable of accomplishing in real life, not just fairytales. Truly an amazing read. Thank you to the author for helping these women’s stories get out, and for her added words. (And for her military service) It made me want to join in and continuing helping the girls and women of the world see how amazing we are.

Profiles of Women's Courage During the World War II Period
Each woman profiled is a heroine in her own right. Strong, brave, some risking their lives for others. A story about nurses near the front line in France in WWII ... no soft hospital with safety situation. Each story gives the reader new insights on the range of roles, the intelligence and grit of the women, and this must be underlined their courage. We have been robbed in the past of knowing these amazing women whose talents were critical during the war.

mixed feelings
I read this with mixed feelings. There was pride and a feeling of inspiration when reading about these women who fought Nazis during WWII and a feeling of despair when I realize that all of their accomplishments and hard work are being torn down and devalued by today’s Nazis. When individuals like Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump try to erase this history and then try to prevent further advances because they’re afraid of DEI and their own failures as human beings, it brings home the fact that we have to keep on fighting until we tear down the patriarchy and replace it with true meritocracy.
