Gris Grimly's Frankenstein Hardcover – August 27, 2013

lovely, I loved it the first time I read it, and the second time. ive always love the original book, I never felt films and shows did this story justice, but this, this is perfect. this took a whole different approach to victor, and the creature. gothic and very beautiful

Once my daughter started reading this book, the pages immediately started falling out. She even thought that some may have been missing to begin with, the quality was so poor. Because I bought this many months before they read it in school, I can now no longer return it either. Disappointed.

I'm in love with Gris Grimly's work. I homeschool, and used this and his Edgar Allen Poe books for some fun Halloween reading. What a great way to introduce kids to classic writers. Grimley uses selections from the original text, interspersed with illustrations. The book starts with several letters without illustrations. My kids and I really needed to power through these letters; we were certainly rewarded with a great read once we got through the boring letters. I've bought a bunch of Grimley's other books. I hope he and other talented artists continue to illustrate classic books with the original text.

I'm a fan of Gris Grimly's art, and this book delivers. Shelley's words are poetic and beautiful, which is why I was a bit disappointed that a lot of the original text was not included; hence, the four stars. I would recommend this book to individuals who want an introduction to the classics and those who get bored easily like middle and high school kids. It's a good transition from illustrated books to all text novels.

[this review was originally posted to goodreads on 12/26/16] i really enjoyed this, although - and i hate to admit this, with all the versions i HAVE read/watched - i'm not sure how it compares to the original because i still haven't read it. but i think it stands very well on its own and i the illustrations fit perfectly with the mood of the entire thing.

My daughter loved the modern take on this old story.

Wow! Wow! The graphics are awesome! I love the size of this book. I also love that Gris Grimly did not change Mary Shelley's text, making it easier for me to use this in our homeschooling. My son gets all the wonderful graphics, as well as, the wonderful story! A plus. I will be buying more of author Gris Grimly's works. Some of the art, I want to pull out and frame, however, I just don't want to ruin the book!

Bought two and 'lucked out' with one being a signed copy :). Both are in perfect condition and exactly what I expected. Looking forward to reading it myself and using one in my classroom for my ELL students and reluctant readers. Fantastic adaptation purchased from a wonderful company.

A beautiful work of art!!

The book has grotesque illustration for which Grimly is famed, befitting the theme. The sepia tones highlight the 19th century.

Gorgeous artwork! The price fluctuates often so wait until it dips and it's a win‐win-win situation.

Me encanta Grimly.. Me lo pillé en inglés y luego lo sacó Planeta en español... Tanto correr, tanto correr... bueno, pero me costó casi la mitad.

Obra imprescindible si te gusta el mito de Frankenstein y las ilustraciones de Gris Grimly.Lástima que en España no tengamos la posibilidad de disfrutarlo en nuestro idioma. Al menos de momento.
