Do not have armadillos in michigan

These are very pointy but won't deter a raccoon, try looking for the metal spikes instead

No they will jump right over them.

Squirrels have straddled the spikes on the fence but eventually gave up. As for plants, they may find a way around them. Cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or chili powder are effective deterrents and will not hurt the plants.
