Makes pelvic floor health accessible
The author breaks down each pose really well. Then you are provided with several practice sequences depending on your need. The only thing I would add is be more focus on alternative poses for the more difficult poses.

Outstanding Yoga Resource
I enjoy and use D’Arrigo’s books. She explains in simple details the poses/asanas with illustrations. In addition, she provides a variety of sequences at the end of her books. Anyone with pelvic floor muscle issues will benefit, but it’s excellent for everyone.

Great representation of the poses
I ordered this book because at 68, I am beginning to experience issues that I have read can be helped by strengthening the pelvic floor. When I first opened the book, I was impressed by the silhouettes of the different poses. The instructions were also straight forward.I didn't delve deeper into the book but decided to attend yoga practice sessions. Now when I am getting back into the book I have a deeper appreciation for it.The information is well presented and I feel like I can progress with a better understanding. I know this book contains all the information I will need to improve the condition of my pelvic floor.

Easy to understand book
Pelvic Floor Yoga for Women by Christina D"Arrigo is a simply illustrated and easy to understand book for women wanting to learn how to do exercises to help heal and strengthen their pelvic floor. The book is divided into two parts: All About Pelvic Floor Yoga and Pelvic Floor Yoga Poses and Sequences. The first part explains why exercises are necessary to keep this area strong and working well. I liked that there is a brief introduction to what yoga is and why do it for your health. There is also good images and information on the pelvic floor, along with explainations as to how this area can weaken. Even though Kegel exercises aren't exactly yoga, the author does give a brief history of these exercises and how to do them correctly since they are often prescribed or recommended for pelvic floor strengthening. She concludes this section with some good information on how to get ready to do the exercises, how to make them a habit and what, if any, props or special clothing that you need. The second section gives instructions and a pose image for healing poses, energizing poses, and harmonizing poses all for the pelvic floor area. Then she concludes with sequences to use as you work to strengthen your pelvic floor. One added touch that I really liked about this book is that she concludes with a page with more resources to learn more, a page of references and a nicely detailed index. I really felt like the author put time and effort into making this a user friendly book.I received a copy of this book from the publisher through the Amazon Vine Program. All opinions within this review are my own. I hope you find this review "helpful."

A beautifully done yoga book, with one little reservation
This is a very thoughtfully done book of basic yoga postures that will be familiar to many people who have done yoga before. The instructions are clear, the illustrations are very helpful, and there is a fair amount of explanatory information about the pelvic floor and the practice of yoga. A very good example of a Kegel exercise is given. Routines chaining exercises together are provided in the later part of the book, with themes geared to energizing, stretching, strengthening, tightening, and releasing the pelvic floor, as well as additional routines including one for pregnancy. All of this is great, and the yoga is as always, wonderful, though some of the poses will be very difficult for some people. My one reservation about this book is that in my own experience, the most dramatic results came from a bunch of very targeted exercises that included and grew out of Kegel exercises, and didn't involve positions that might be hard for beginners.Still, this book is beautifully done, and exudes a comforting sense of peace. Recommended to those perhaps with some yoga background, and to others who might consult a yoga teacher for some guidance and perhaps modifications to the more challenging postures.

We don't talk about these things
But maybe we should more. After two kids, and a bit of aging, things were not as they should be downtown. I was noticing things like, a bit of pee when I sneezed. Why is this happening? I've always been really good about Kegels, made sure I did them regularly after giving birth, never had an issue then, why now? I saw this book and snatched it up, I've been following the exercises provided closely and I've noticed a big improvement. I got sick recently with a horribly unproductive cough, something that would normally be causing a problem after about three or four days, but I got to day six before it was a problem down there. Now I'm working on rebuilding and I've realized, I can never really stop with the exercises, I need to "maintain" things just like I would when I exercise any other part of my body. Ladies, do yourself a favor, get this.

Great Instructions, Helpful Illustrations
Over the years my core has suffered. After suffering from auto immune problems for years, I am out of shape, especially after having two kids. This book has been helpful to me because the instructions and illustrations are easy to follow and the book is handy so I don't need to rely on my phone or an app.I am far from being able to do all the poses in this book, but I am making progress and it feels good to see improvement in what I am able to do.

Good quality`
This is a good quality book - thought it would have had more exercises for the pelvic floor. The postures were great - I am an avid teacher and practitioner of yoga so most of the poses I already knew.
