The Bolt Supremacy

a masterpiece on The rise of Jamaican sprinting
Richard Moore gives both sides of the argument about the reasons behind the rise of Jamaican sprinting to become the world powerhouse. This is a really well researched book that introduces us to many characters that have had a great influence on Jamaican athletics. This is an informative, entertaining, thought provoking read which will leave you with a really good understanding of the enigma that is Jamaican athletics.Highly recommended.

which for me enhances the enjoyment of the book
The Bolt Supremacy is yet another cracking read from Richard Moore. As in his other works, Richard delves deeply into the subject and unearths some fascinating threads that he is able to follow and develop in the overall context of the story, all of which enables the reader to come to his or her own conclusions regarding the various issues raised along the way, for example the murky subject of performance enhancing drugs. As a huge athletics fan, I was aware of a number of the areas covered in The Bolt Supremacy, however now I have a much deeper understanding of the background and some of the politics affecting Jamaican track and field, and more of an appreciation of how such a tiny nation has become a global sprinting powerhouse. Richard favours substance over style, in my view. He is not one for fluffy language or hyperbole, and does not impose his own opinions on the reader, and therefore it's the subject matter that shines through not the presentation, which for me enhances the enjoyment of the book. I loved The Bolt Supremacy, as I did, The Dirtiest Race in History, In Search of Robert Millar, Etape, Slaying the Badger and the rest. I'm already looking forward to his next project!

Raises more questions than it answers
Interesting book about how Jamaican Track and Field is so dominant and the people and culture behind it.There are two major coaching squads, the supportive school system and the love of athletics among the peopleLeaves the reader to decide what makes Jamaican runners so successful. Is it skill, talent and culture or PED ?

A very thought provoking read.
Absolutely loved this book and read it in two days. Richard Moore isn't out to tell you what HE thinks is the reason for Jamaica's success on the track, but to hit you with the facts and for you to make up your own mind. Fantastically well researched, and beautifully written.
