they work...but
these work, but the issue of the bearing collars are only press fitted on, not welded, so they easily come off if there is too much weight on the wheel when tilting into turns.

Replies an Old Or Worn Axle Cone
If you hear grinding noises coming from your bicycle hub this could be the trick. Your bearings may need replacing also. Tools needed: cone wrenches and some knowledge of the old style bicycle hubs.
