I bought this use as a wood stove starter. Works great! I also like that you just attach a can of butane and don't have to fill it like many other torches. I got tired of buying the usual fire starters and having them stop working while still half full or having to click them multiple time to get them to work.

Not with the torch, it's fine. It's with the copy writers (possibly recently promoted from the shipping dept?) who insist on picturing butane cans in the "Frequently bought together" section that DO NOT FIT THIS UNIT! That explains the polarized reviews, perhaps. If you use this torch WITH THE RIGHT FUEL, it works quite well indeed. You need a can with a wide rim with a notch in it (see pic). You can pick these up @ your neighborhood allWay-artMay sporting goods dept for a couple bucks. My only complaint w/ the torch is that it doesn't quite produce as precise a flame as some of the "pencil" style torches. Very handy though.

This is an awesome product. So easy to use. Just set it on a standard butane canister and turn and it's connected. Turn the knob, to release butane and press the igniter button and tada! you're good to go. I had tried using a culinary torch, which died after about 7 uses ( I was pretty ticked off) and then I saw this. I use it for my art work, to pop bubbles and bring out color, but it can be used for so much more. Plus, you don't have to search for the canisters with the long valves...this fits a standard valve. My sons are all going to be getting one of these!!!! Great price too.

Searing after sous vide and lighting charcoal works perfect. And it'll heat rusty bolts so they come loose. Triple threat tool!

Bought this torch lighter to replace a more expensive torch lighter that had served me well for 5+ years but had reached the end of its life. I'm lucky I didnt get a serious burn- it went up in flames in my hand when I first used it. This item should not be sold- buyer beware. I will spend more money to get a safe product.

Easy and adjustable flame.. does a good job

By the time you get the torch attached to the canister you have lost half the butane and it is questionable if you want to pull the trigger for quite some time.
