Great book to teach inquisitive minds
Great book full of interesting facts, info and activities/crafts. Aimed at junior school kids (7-11), but I'll be doing some of these crafts myself to be honest!Bought for my nephews who have taken an interest in looking after the environment and want to learn more.

The recent time indoors with two children has really upped the craft skills that we use. The proper craft stuff went first and then we moved onto the recycle bin. There is loads of card and plastic that you can reuse for a cardboard fort or marble run. DK's book 'Recycle and Remake' formalises things a little and gives you actual projects with guidance, rather than just scrambling around what to do.The book has an important environmental message and has sections explaining why we should recycle etc. It is full of pictures and suitable for the primary school age it is aimed at. I like the idea of a book that tells you of the issues and then gives you a chance to do something about it; even if that is just converting some straws into an insect hotel. The ideas on show cover loads of bits of rubbish and there are several that most people would not think about by themselves. You will need some of the craft essentials to be able to make them i.e. glue, sticky tape etc and this is often the first things that you use. Also, depending on your crafting skills, some of what you make will still look like a pile of rubbish with added glue and glitter. At least you will have fun!

Fantastic book of easy to do crafts using recyclables
Recycle and remake is a book full of crafts and encourages you to look at what you have and to make something new out of it rather than single use plastics being thrown away all the time.In between the activities are interjections giving reasons why we should choose less single use plastics, the harm it is doing to environment but with a mind to what we can do instead of just simply telling. This encourages us to do something different with our recyclables or plastic waste until better alternatives become the norm. This book is not just a great guide to being more environmentally conscious it is a generally fantastic activity book to have on hand at home because almost all of the activities prompt you to use what you have rather than lots of special equipment for just one task. Only a few require a purposeful purchase but to me it’s definitely worth it!
