Unimpressed
The story is quite odd and conveys very little. While the point maybe to show how simple solutions are often missed in search of grand solutions the narration is such that kids will hardly be able to learn much from it. I am a fan of Oliver Jeffers books but I wish I could return this book.

Great book but poor quality board book.
The book is adorable. While it is really silly (it talks about Floyd getting is kite stuck and then throwing quite a few other things up the tree to get his kite back), it is so much fun to read. My 2.5 year old is so ‘stuck’ on the book.Downside though - it gives them an idea to throw things around. I noticed my lil one suddenly throwing things around a lot once I introduced the book. Also, the quality of the board book is really poor. The pages are old and yellowing, and it’s quality is poor compared to other board books I’ve purchased. The three star is coz of this and not the book !

Yes it's hilarious. The tree and the boy change ...
Yes it's hilarious. The tree and the boy change colour to red and blue on some pages, that is the way jeffers is trying to capture the feelings associated with these colours, I.e anger and sadness respectively. A little exaggeration that boy threw the curious whale, a house with a lady, fire fighters and fire engine etc on the tree!! But Yes, it's hilarious.

Disappointed
The book in itself is not bad...good quality. But the copy I received was defected ...torn and looks very old. The cover had a lot of scratches and tear. Disappointed.

Absolutely hilarious and his best book by far - more like this one please!
I’ve bought several Jeffers books for my now 4 year old grandson and I love reading them with him. He can be a little serious, but this book made him start giggling from the beginning, leading to full-on laughing the more I read. He wanted me to read it again immediately, and seemed to find it even funnier the second time. He couldn’t seem to stop thinking and talking about all the things stuck in the tree and was very keen to tell his Mum later, laughing as he told her all about them. I’ve spent a fair amount of time with my grandson over the last four years, and I’ve never seen him react to a book or toy with such sheer joy.I normally rotate the several books I read to him, but today he greeted me at his house with: “Did you bring the ‘Stuck’ book because I want to read it every day forever?” Up to now his favourite funny books have been the ‘Dinosaurs in the Supermarket / School’, but his reaction to ‘Stuck’ has far exceeded those.Oliver Jeffers has written wonderful books, but I wish he would write at least one more as humorous as this one.

Not the full book
This is a reduced version of the excellent Stuck. I recommend the original book not this one.

Quirky story and illustrations to match. One of his best.
Oliver Jeffers is proving himself to be one of the most popular children's authors since the distinguished and ever-prominent Julia Donaldson. His construction of humourous stories will appeal to adult readers as much as his quirky drawings will appeal to little ones. This story is particularly quirky. It tells the story of a boy who gets his kite stuck in a tree and, in order to dislodge it, he throws up bigger and more elaborate things. Without giving away the story, let's just say a whale, some ladders and a neighbours house are involved. Definitely worth reading and treasuring.

STUCK and sad about it
Changed my review....My 6 year old thought it was kinda funny but the font was awful to read, maybe it didn't make a difference to him but it did to me.... I am not STUCK with this book on my kindle as unknown to me it wasnt even included on the Unlimited! Was not worth the price!

Made my pre-schooler laugh
Just bought for my 2year 3mo year old. Was worried it would be a little advanced for him. I'm not even sure he knows what a kite is. But I wanted something new to read myself and I love Way Back Home and Lost and Found by Jeffers. My son totally got the idea very quickly and by the time the third or fourth item was thrown up in the tree after the kite he started giggling out loud. He clearly really enjoyed it and all the absurdity. And of course as he gets older he'll understand more of the story. My only criticism is that the text is in scrawling handwriting which is all very well for a 6 year old (or possibly it's more for the adult's amusement) but doesn't do anything for a two year old who is familiarising himself with the concept of reading and letters. But since I got it for the fun of the story, that is a minor complaint.
