excellent results for amateurs as well
I'm not a professional restorer or craftsperson, but I do leatherwork as a hobbyist and also maintain a personal collection of classic firearms, air rifles, knives and other hunting and field tools on which I've used Alfie Shine as both a finish and preservative across nearly the full range of their component materials. The stand-out attributes of Alfie Shine, for my purposes, are its ease of application and with that the achievement of very good and predicable results. I haven't encountered a material that it will discolor, nor does it tend to saturate porous materials or creep into contiguous surfaces , and that behavior is consistent with repeated applications - leathers with a nap are the exception. As you'd anticipate, napped leather surfaces will darken a bit when the fibers are coated and bind together. The resulting finish is very well suited to antiques and new items you'd like to give a 'timeless' look. It's a bit difficult to describe the effect, except to say that it appears like an authentic patina. This is an especially useful property when it comes to finishing repairs and new components added when rebuilding an item as it will help them blend in much better than you'd expect. Also the pleasant aroma of the wax and sealing properties are helpful for countering musty smells.

Love at first sight
Didn't realize this wax can comes from UK, but shipping was real fast! This product was recommended from a guy in UK for old molding planes restoration. I'm very much pleased by this wax polish, I love the smell, and the finish it gives on wood -it is not that crappy glossy lustre that doesn't last, obtained with some other wax brand names- it's a nice gentle satin finish. What's most important, the wood really absorb the wax and the product succeed to create a "shell" protective layer. It seems the little can -60ml- is gonna last, the paste is consistent, a difference of other "oily" waxes full of chemicals, that run out so fast. I can see myself ordering more of this great stuff very soon!

Alfie Shine shines!!
Like most amateur woodworkers, collecting tools is just as much part of the hobby as building furniture. Restoring old tools has become a rewarding past time, and I am always on the look out for vintage wooden-bodied bench/moulding planes. One of the more tricky aspects of vintage tool repair is restoring the functionality of the tool without ruining the patina. In general, I would use furniture paste wax, which did a passable job, but left a dull haze and never seemed to offer much protection. So when I came across Jim Hendricks on Instagram I was immediately impressed with his restoration work. His tools always looked great, but retained their vintage appeal. When his "secret weapon", Alfie Shine, became available for sale, I had to give it a try.I chose to try it out on a moving fillister plane I've had for some time. I did as the instructions said, applied a light coat, let it cure (overnight) and buffed it out. After the first buffing the appearance of the tool improved dramatically. Not only that, the tool also had an actual protective coating on it. I could have left it at that, but I decided to apply another coat the following day to see the results. I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but the plane looked even better. I waited another day and applied the third and final coat, and I can honestly say that the plane looks absolutely fantastic. To top it all off, the stuff smells great, just very fresh and pleasant, and not the pungent chemical-like smell of some waxes and solvents. Even my wife commented on it. So all in all I could not recommend Alfie Shine more. It's inexpensive, works great, and makes your vintage tools shine. It's just a great all around product.

Great product, though read my review
This is a very nice wax in an appreciated "old school" container. I'd give it five stars if better instructions were included.1) This wax is relatively hard and doesn't spread easily. Here's how to deal with that: Dampen the application cloth with warm water. (Dampen doesn't mean drench.) This will dramatically help the cloth pick up the wax as well as greatly easing the applications.2) After waiting several minutes, buff the driving wax as the container suggests. However, this should be viewed as an initial buff that's performed with a cloth. The "magic" won't happen unless Step 3 is performed.3) After waiting several more minutes, perform the final buff with a clean MICROFIBER towel. Turn the cloth over and repeat. You'll understand my reasoning here after trying it. What a difference!

Best woodworking wax ever.
This stuff is amazing. I've been doing woodwork (platters, bowls, knife handles, etc.) for almost 40 years and this is absolutely the best wax I've ever used. I used it on my last 2 platters, all my kitchen knives and to protect our wooden counters (200-year old red oak barn flooring). It dries hard with a very soft sheen, sheds water beautifully and really lasts. I like it so much that I wander around the house and my wood shop looking for things to wax since I've only used 1/3 of the tin.

Packaging
I ordered Alfie Shine because I had not much left. The Package arrived in a timely manner but the Tin itself was so badly battered from mishandling that the cover could not be put back on. The product, a very fine quality protective wax, is a pleasure to use and it has the most pleasant scent, but I'l sad to say I will have to melt it down to keep it in a more suitable container. A second tin arrived today. It was also beat-up but not as badly. The caps stays on this one. The product deserves all 5 starts, but Amazon's Shipping department needs extensive training!

Best wax I’ve ever used
I use this on all of my wood and metal tools. They look brilliant, and it saves them from rust, do to humidity, like nothing I’ve ever used. A little goes a long way. You won’t be sorry, 100% worth it. I’ve also used it on furniture and cabinets with the same level of satisfaction. And it smells fantastic.

Brilliant product
Easy to use and it smells amazing! I used it on our banisters and an old chest of drawers that was marked quite badly in some places. It has given both lots of wood a lovely shine and has taken out a lot of the marks.

Ahh! The deep lustre.
But only if you use some elbow-grease as well. Two long chain hydrocarbons with no pollution!
