Women in Sports: 50 Fearless Athletes Who Played to Win (Women in Science) Hardcover – July 18, 2017

Bought this for my 12year old Granddaughter. I did thumb through the book and saw outstanding women in all sports. She’s into soccer and basketball so, even though this book covers more sports, I think she’ll like it.

My granddaughtwr loves sports and this book thrilled her. She is reading about the many amazing women who have also loved sports.

Unlike me, my goddaughter is well-rounded in terms of brains and athleticism. Even 50+ years after Title IX, though, there still seems to be a disparity between how male and female athletes are treated. It is my intention to encourage and support her in all that she does.

Niece loves it

After making the choice to homeschool my daughter in this 2020-21 school year, I quickly decided to embrace a women's studies approach. I am using all of the books by this author to help engage my 5th grader and introduce new stories to her. She hasn't yet seen the struggle of women to make their place in the world (or at least be acknowledged for it). As wonderful as that is, I want her to understand the growth that has happened and that still needs to continue.We read through a woman a day and do some brief further study (in this case that usually means searching out their sport). When we find someone that really sparks her interest, we tackle a more in depth study of the woman, her life, her sport, and her journey. I love all the books by this author!

This is a great educational book for a young demographic- perhaps grammar school age as a learning textbook! The graphics and illustrations are very well done to engage a young reader to read and learn.Was looking more for a coffee table book with high resolution photographs along with biographies of the 50 greatest women athletes, as a gift to an adult athlete.

One for me, and three for some BA ladies athletes. I think this is a book that deserves a place on a coffee table for a young human to pick up and be in awe of a story. I loved everyone of them. Play the game: how many did you know before opening the book? I only knew 12.

I bought this book for my 11 year old niece who plays competitive basketball, softball and volleyball. It's such an engaging book - with it's inspiring stories about female athletes to the beautifully colored pages and illustrations. I saw other reviews that is was lacking pictures, this isn't a picture book. It's more like short biographies of each athlete. I think if you want that sort of book, you need to choose a subject and do some research where you'll find more imagery. It's well written and also provides little facts about each one as well, pulling you into their story.
