You have to drill a 1" hole in your boat. I was nervous but I measured it out and used a small drill bit, and used my step up drill bit until I reached the 1". I used silicone around the hole, and mounted the LED in place. There is 2 nuts that go on the back side. I had to have someone hold the outside of the LED so I could tighten it up. They are bright, and flush with my boat. Gives it a nice look.

Overall a really good little light. As noted in other reviews, they must be installed at the proper angle so that they can be seen in accordance with regulations. I installed just over the rail at the bow so took advantage of the hull angle. I would have given 5 stars except the wires that exit the lights are too small. I'm sure they are plenty capable of lighting the LEDs long term however in a marine environment they should be larger purely for strength. Would be worth the extra $0.05 during manufacturing to move up a few gauges.

Bright, super discreet and well built. I was finally able to get rid of the light everybody kicks when getting on the bow. In process of fiberglass and gel coat to cover up old light. Then doing some teak decking on bow. 100% satisfied. I’ll put it this way, these lights are worth drilling into the hull.

Install was easy. Wires are 22 Awg like mentioned in description, wish they were 14 awg but it will work. Time will tell if they’re worth it. So far so good though. Only complaint is there’s no instructions as to which way the angle is facing, so I installed them with showing letters readable and not upside down.

Be extremely careful. These lights can only be installed on your bow, at an angle of 34 degrees from straight ahead to be LEGAL.The manufacturer declares they are checked by a USCG approved lab, but they are NOT approved by the USCG. Sidelights must show their arc of visibility from straight ahead to 112.5 degrees abaft on your vessel. these will only do that if installed EXACTLY as describedThey will not work on your center console, they will not work at the front of your bow, they will only work in one precise place on your vessel.Check out Perko or other companies that offer sidelights for boats.
