All About the Intensive Care Unit: How to Prepare Kids for an ICU Visit (Child Life Book Club)

As an educator, I found this book to be a wonderful tool to be used within all grades from k-8. Especially living through a pandemic, children have heard the term "ICU" come up quite frequently in conversation. This book is a great way for educators to introduce the topic and discuss the medical terminology and also incorporate some Social Emotional Learning. Teachers can prepare a KWL chart to see what children may know about the topic, what they wonder, and what they want to learn. This book isn't necessarily limited to the demographic who have had the unfortunate circumstance of dealing with a loved one in the ICU, but can be used as a general tool of awareness and new vocabulary. A book like this is a must in every classroom library. Well done!

A great teaching tool for children coming to visit the ICU. Graphics and wording are well planned and developmentally appropriate for children. Thank you for helping make a hard conversation easier. A must have for all hospitals and even classrooms would benefit when talking about the hospital.
