This Mirikit 7-in-1 cable set works great! I have a Baofeng BP-F8HP and UV-5G, along with a Yaesu FT-65R. Each of the three radios use a different connector for programming. This would have meant purchasing extra cables. Now I don't have to with this Mirikit 7-in-1!I have programmed each successfully with the Mirikit cable. It's easy to use. All you need to do is find the correct connector for your radio. One end goes into the USB side and into your computer. The other end goes into the radio. Because you're not buying the manufacturer's cables, it is going to look different than what the Mirikit provides. I'd suggest going on YouTube to determine which of the ports on the radio to connect the cable into. For instance, with the Yaesu FT-65R, I had thought I needed to connect both the SP and MIC ports. There was actually a connector that fit this perfectly. But it didn't work. I was scratching my head for quite a few minutes, trying to figure out why Chirp cannot communicate with the radio. Then, I jumped on YouTube and saw that I need only connect to the MIC port on the radio with another cable. Things started working!Overall, I highly recommend this kit, especially if you intend to start collecting radios as I do. Like any hobby, with Amateur Radio, you soon realize you need a different radio for a different need. Or, you just want to try out the different radios and play with them to see how they work, until you find the one that fits you. Having a Mirikit 7-in-1 programming cable set means you spend little less money on programming cables and have less of a rat's nest of cables in your ham box-o-cables.And yes, these use the bonafide FTDI chipsets, which means Windows 10 won't reject you and prevent you from using the cable.

Instruction manual was needed, my phone would not read the scanner code

The cable arrived quickly and once I got it figured out, it programmed quickly. It took me about two hours to get it figured out, though. Learn from my mistakes so you can do a quick program job when you get yours. The first thing I learned is that it did not work with Windows 7 for me. I don't know if it will work with the Windows version between 7 and 10, but my guess is no. I saw windows 10 mentioned during a review or information about the cable, but the other version of Windows were not mentioned. None of the programs I tried would recognize the cable and radio. It does work just fine with Windows 10. My first actual reading and writing to the radio was with CHIRP. I imported a UV5R file into CHIRP and it loaded to the radio just fine. I learned after reading the manual that some features of the UV9R radio can only be turned on through software and CHIRP does not have that capability built in (yet), For example if you want to display names instead of frequencies in the display you must do that through software. Other reviews have mentioned downloading the BAOFENG GT3WP software from the BAOFENG web site. I downloaded and installed it on the Windows 10 computer and was able to turn on names and turn off the voice notifications. This modified the file UV5R file I imported. This software recognized the cable right away and recognized which COM port it had been assigned. Once I figured out what the software "problems" were it worked very well. It is a good well built cable that came with a screw to lock the connector to the radio. I like it quite well and now that I know how to properly use it I won't be reluctant to change or update frequencies as desired.

Working fine still a problem with ICOM connection (IC V80 numbers keep running)

Legit cable .Has a chip in the master cable that required a few updates and restarts on my system.Make sure your drivers are up to date and you can locate it on the COMM ports.The included adapter is short and reached into the recessed jack on my radio.Works with Chris softwareI can program my walkie talkie.Has a bunch of other connections now to do some other ones.
