A Crown of the Gods: Shadows and Crowns Series, Book 4

My heart hurts
In my opinion, this book wasn't as strong as books 1 and 3, more on the level of book 2. The beginning and end were exciting and had me on the edge of my seat, but the middle was slow for me. I still had fun and there were interesting twists that I didn't see coming, (my heart hurts after that ending). The found family in this series is my absolute favorite, I love every single one of them. Nessa, Rhea, Zev, and Nepehle are my favorite characters. I'm curious to see how the next book is written. I'm hoping for some additional points of view! I think book 5 is supposed to be the last book in the series and it comes out in March so I can't wait to see how it ends!!

Necessary Growing Pains
In book 4, we see a whole lot of growth. If you are a fan of the angst and tension that comes from character growth, you will really enjoy this installment. Cas continues to develop in her role. She and Elander have some learning to do about what the best way to communicate and support each other is, even after all this time. I loved seeing the maturity they reached in this book, though they're not quite a solid team yet. I have a feeling the last book will be amazing when they reach their potential. Her friends continue to be amazing supports for her and all the changes thrown into their lives. I loved the care and concern they had for her, even to the point of a family intervention. Everyone needs a Zev and Nessa in their lives! As usual, and expected, it ends in a doozy of a cliffhanger. I'm so excited to read the latest book in Casia's story later this year!!

I can’t wait for book 5!
I have to admit that the beginning of the book feels a little slow but once it picks up, I couldn’t put it down. Elander continues to be one of the hottest MMC out there and he never invalidates Casia’s own strength. That cliffhanger had me crying but also didn’t leave me angry (like so many do!!!). It’s bittersweet and I can’t wait to see how it’s resolved in the next book.

Found Family ~ Dual POV ~ Strong Magic system.
Oh my heart. It was so great to be back in this world. I love being back with Caisa and the gang. I loved all the action and shocks this book gave. I loved seeing the growth of characters. The emotional rollercoaster was just fantastic. The ending literally had me screaming out loud. I can't wait for book five.A Crown of the Gods is book 4 in the Shadows and Crowns series. Definitely a great read.

Oh my word!
I need book 5 stat!! I have loved every single one of these books in this series, and I am dying to see how it all ends! Elander is the swooniest leading male, and Casia is brave and relentless. So much action and intrigue that you can’t help but keep turning the pages to see what happens next.

Entertaining Series
I liked the book, but there's was one thing that particularly bothered me, the author's use of distance. For example, the author would write someone or place was 50 or 100 yards away when the scene was inside a building. It just seems way too far apart when referring to distances inside. I also thought this a couple times when miles were used for scenes on the palace grounds or within the city. It kept throwing me off and pulling me out of the story.

Awesomely written
Holy cliff hanger...this series is a crazy twisted and turning of events that I never see coming. Told from both Casia and Elander’s POV. I found myself liking Veran, so hoping he turns out to be a good one in the end.

Captivating and surreal
WHEN YOU SPEND AS MUCH TIME AS I HAD IN THE DARK, THE LIGHT STARTS TO SEEM LIKE AN ENEMY.This particular book series has always had my attention. The amalgamation of magic, romance, political intrigue, subterfuge has had me hooked from the get go and this book is no different.A crown of the Gods takes off from the previous installment where Casia is trying to hold the reins of the kingdom. She is obviously helped by her merry band of misfits who are just Friendship goals. Casia's anxiety problems is so realistically written that I could completely relate with her. Her vulnerability and obsession with doing everything herself is aptly justified through the book. At the same time, her brash nature can get irritating but it's again understandable. The friends who have been with her through thick and thin are such a beautiful and humorous addition to the book. Their banter, thoughtfulness just adds a sublime touch to the series especially Nessa whom I love. And of course not forgetting Elander. He is just perfect. No other male protagonist other than Rhysand has done it for me but Elander comes close. His relationship with Casia is swoon worthy. The author has splendidly written a male protagonist who perfectly balances the FMC.The twists and turns this book takes keeps you at the edge of your seat and My oh my that Cliffhanger. I cannot forgive the author for that but now I am waiting eagerly for the next book in the series.Since I did feel that certain parts of the book were dragged and could have been avoided, I accord 4.5 stars to this magical installment.IT'S JUST YOU. ONLY YOU. I HAVE NO OTHER WEAKNESSES.

ramping up to a massive ending
Ugh the wait for book 5.This instalment felt a little different than the others did - it was more romantic. It was also a little slower, but that didn’t bother me much. You could sense that the story and plot line is ramping up to finish in the next book, and this book was used to prep for it, but it didn’t hold back on plot twists or a hell of a cliffhanger. You also still get all the best things about this series in this book: Elander and Casia being cute AF, Zev’s comedic relief, and the rest of the found family coming in for comfort.Thank you to SM Gaither for this early copy, I absolutely love your world 🖤

Amazing plot building book
Let's just start off by saying this series just keeps getting better! After falling quickly in love with the first three books and binging them over a weekend I have patiently waited for the forth book to come out.To avoid any spoilers of what happens be wary of the rest of this review. This book builds off the FMC and MMC and her group of friends after the final battle in the third book. You see Casia's journey on taking her position of queen and all the duties, stresses and obstacles that this new role entails. This story has a huge plot push on building up future relations between the gods and whom sides each are working with as well as how their inner circle is handling matters. While the book can feel slow at times as it has so much plot and politics to work through it has a perfect amount humor, spice and personal battles that balance it out perfectly. The ending utterly destroyed me, cliff hanger warning for this book it will ramp up so fast in the last few paragraphs then just mic drop you and leave you there wanting more until the next and finale book releases.Highly recommend this book and overall series, it is by far one of my favorites.
