This has been a lifesaver for me! Ok - I know that sounds dramatic but it's true. Moved into house where a heavy smoker lived..... every bit of wood was dark yellow! Ceilings too. I cut corners as I wanted it done quickly (sound familiar?) but I now know that no prep = bad job. I used emulsion white everywhere (ceilings x4) then went over with One coat gloss. Very expensive and started peeling back off within a week! Not the same a non-drip gloss and alot more expensive, but not worth it in my opinion. So I bought this as it said no sanding required (I know, lazy) Dried super fast - so did the brushes - you really need to soak in turps asap! Went over with a non-drip gloss (not one coat) Superb finish and only one coat needed!! This product is very thin but does go a long way. Just to give you an idea - I painted 6 doors, all wood front and back and still have approximately 2.5 litres left (was a 5 litre tin) Yes it's expensive but nothing compared to what I wasted. I will always use this from now on. Cheaper in the long run. I bought this from Paint2u and will buy from them again - fast delivery - great service and excellent packaging (took a while to open box!) that stuff was never going to spill in that box! Will buy from Paint2U again! Hope this review helps

Have just finished using this product to paint my pinewood ceiling and its done the job well. The pine ceiling has been up many years and was only ever varnished once, it has over time got darker and the time has come to freshen up the room. We looked at various products to tackle the job but most involved both rubbing down the ceiling with sandpaper and also maybe having to use a product to seal the knots. We were recomended this primer by a tradesman and I had never heard of it so I looked it up on the net. All the information to could ever need about primers is on the Zinsser web site, they even have a usefull booklet that they will send you for free with all the info in it.It has taken two coats to cover the ceiling but its now ready for paint which I am sure will take just one coat. The primer is quite runny so we had to cover everything to avoid paint splashes, it also drys very quickly so drags after a few seconds of applying so you have to be quick. It does smell but not too bad although you will need fresh air while you paint. All we had to do was dust quickly for cobwebs and then start applying the primer, no rubbing down no other prep at all. only downside is price, but it saves a bundle of time in prep and will stick to anything, great product.

I bought this because it was recommended. The paint is really thin and takes multiple layers. Other reviewers say that this doesn't matter because it drys so quickly which it does, but its an awful lot of effort to do multiple layers. I felt the colour yellows very quickly. I left the painting for a few days, and when I went back sure enough the "older" week long layer of Bin Zinser had yellowed. I would not use it again.
