So easy to get amazing results!!!
This is my first pellet grill/smoker, just got it about a week ago. I do most/all the cooking for my family, I’m no gourmet chef, but I’m pretty good. No complaints. To inaugurate the Recteq I decided to smoke a Boston Butt. Just followed some instructions I randomly found online. The verdict: my family said it was the best thing I’ve ever made! It turned out perfectly. And that’s coming from someone with zero experience with this stuff. I highly recommend this grill. The versatility is amazing - you can use it as a low-and-slow smoker, or, you can use it like a regular grill for burgers and dogs. I highly recommend it.

Spectacular grill that can go over 750 degrees
So great I'm glad my existing pellet grill broke. The unit is easy to assemble and took about 20 minutes. My first cook a reverse sear ribeye 225 until internal 128 degrees removed and put in RIOT mode and the grill quickly heated to 750 degrees and then seared both sides for a great crust ,,,,,, PERFECT medium rare. RIOT mode is the game changer as my prior pellet grill could barely get 450 degrees, and this baby easily went to 750 degrees perfect for searing and PIZZA on my steel and its better than a pizza oven. You won't be disappointed it's a great grill and the price was right at 429 and Amazon gave me a 175-dollar gift card to get the prime credit card bringing it down to 254 and you can't beat that as I would have paid double

Buyers Beware
What a PoS, I purchased this pellet smoker with high hopes and after researching and studying pellet smokers for a very long time I decided to go with this Recteq bull’s-eye 380, since there were a few reviews of it saying it was a great “entry-level” pellet smoker, and this being the very first one I had ever purchased, I figured that sounded like the one for me, plus a lot of the reviews remarked at its sturdiness, Unfortunately It has definitely left a bad taste in my mouth for this brand and style, first of all, I do not think they could’ve made the assembly much more difficult, many of the bolts and parts do not assemble easily, it took me a little over three hours to assemble. It also had a few missing washers for the handle which wasn’t a huge problem but very inconvenient nonetheless, then after all the difficulty of assembling my in-laws were going to be over shortly. I had to rethink my game plan as I had bought a packer brisket from Costco, but the assembly took so long that wasn’t a possibility. I ran to the butcher quickly and bought some bone in chicken thighs and let them start coming to a slight room temperature while I figured I would preheat the smoker however upon plugging it in and filling the hopper with premium post oak pellets for its very first time, it threw an error code 3 at me, which never went away, the smoker was defective right out of the box which it being my day off and having my in-laws come over and wanting to impress my father-in-law who is a self sworn “Traeger man” with my “great” “cost effective purchase”, and newly found Smoking skills was simply a pipe dream, he got in a good laugh at my expense and remarked how “sometimes it’s just best to go with what you know”, “that’s why I bought a Traeger”. Then to add insult to injury, the return of this product was nearly just as difficult, if not more so I had to disassemble this thing, go to HD and buy a huge wardrobe box cost me about $35 then go to FedEx and pay for cushioning for the product not to mention gas and all my time on my day off, Altogether between assembly and the return I must’ve spent close to eight hours just running around assembling and then returning and paying for a packer brisket, which I couldn’t use and had to give to my father-in-law and also a beautiful pack of bone in skin on chicken thighs that I got from my local butcher that I was to disgusted to cook after the fact, Plus a 20 pound bag of premium post oak smoke pellets, all in all I’m in the hole somewhere over $200 on unused meat, pellets, and shipping costs, what a great way to spend my day off 😒

Very accurate temp control
Update, 1 yr later: Absolutely 5 stars. This grill has done what my previous pellet grills could not do, and did it for $400 less than those top brands cost. I have owned 2 Pit Boss, 1 Oklahoma Joe. 1st Pit boss electronics failed in 13 months of use. Warranty replaced it. 2nd Pit Boss failed in 8 months, surprise leak in cover. Electronic components stopped working. Okie Joe electronics failed and could not determine which parts were bad. In all 3 of these, water and moisture were primary cause of failure. I have no way to store it except on an open deck and heavy grill cover. Two of the failures root cause is from the grill cover failing and allowing grill to get wet. The Recteq has worked flawlessly the entire time. I keep continuous check on grill cover to spot any leak. The recent tropical storm Ophelia that came thru blew my cover off during the storm, soaking the outside of the grill. I allowed it to dry for 2 weeks, cleaned up ash pot and surrounding area of ash and stuck debris. This grill is designed so well the pellets left in the auger tube did not get wet and turn into a solidified mass preventing the auger from turning. I fired up the grill. It took a while for the igniter to get hot enough to start the pellets burning, but it did. I am so impressed with this grill and how it was battered by hurricane force winds and rain, but once it was dried out it works just as good as the first time I used it. All those big name EXPENSIVE grills I wasted my money on couldn't claim this kind of reliability. I am a mechanical design engineer with 5 patents. I have an elevated appreciation for exceptional quality of design. The engineering team at Recteq have my absolute admiration and loyalty. This story says it all. If you can keep yours in a building protected from the weather, it will probably last you many years. Pros: - Once it is preheated, it maintains the temp you set it to very well. - The lid opens fully so you have 100% top down access to your food being cooked. - Perfect size for 2 to 4 people, yet enough space to smoke two or three pork shoulders at once. - Metal parts are made of stainless steel. This adds much more longevity overall. - Design functionality leaves very little ash behind when done cooking. Cons: - No pellet reservoir dump feature. You have to scoop out unused pellets for long term storage. This isn't a game breaker but is a feature I highly value. - No access to the auger chute to unjam degraded pellets (that stayed in chute too long, swelled and clogged the chute). - No function to drain off excess grease and oil drippings. That falls onto heat shield and ignites if excessive. - Ventilation ports are too large. They need to be smaller or not as many. Generated smoke leaves the grilling chamber too fast. ( I will cover some of them or make the added cover adjustable so I can regulate how well the chamber holds smoke.) Overall, its a great low volume pellet grill perfect for a family of 4. And for couples and single users. The freedom of air flow of the grill chamber needs work if I could make design recommendations to the manufacturer. The chamber has too much oxygen coming in, causing grease fire flare up. If you are a good handyman\woman, get some sheet metal and cover some of the vents in the cover. Then it will keep enough smoke inside to prevent the grease flare ups from burning out of control and burning your food.
