Can it be cut into smaller pieces once received?

Yes- it’s just a yard of fabric. I cut mine and glued it onto a canvas to make a sensory board.

I've never tried to wash it. I don't think it is by the way it feels. It is just a material with the stuff put on top. It's a good product though

Is this flame retardant?

This material is made of fabric,and will not be flame retardant. It can be used as a movable wall game material.
