Excellent Filter
Excellent filter...this was my second canister filter purchased since deciding to upgrade my aquarium filtration system...was leery to order as the first unit purchased at my local pet store was a complete disaster which I promptly returned, but saw favorable reviews & product demo videos convinced me to give it a try...was also impressed with the package seller offered w/extra filter media etc so I went ahead with the order...could not be happier...excellent directions had the set-up completed in no time and the filter has worked great since install...my aquarium is crystal clear and the maintenance is a breeze...quick disconnect of hoses with no leaks and easy access to filter baskets & media inside...much easier to clean & significantly better filtration and overall performance than any other filter style/brand I have used...package with extra charcoal, filter pads, etc made the deal even better and I actually saved nearly $50 from the lesser model filter I returned to my pet store...plenty of power keeps great flow in my aquarium...should have purchased this canister filter years ago!!Would not hesitate to recommend this Penn Plax Cascade Canister Filter to anyone & would most certainly order another if setting up a new aquarium or upgrading etc.

Amazing filter!
Amazing filter!! I’ve gone through 3 in the past 6 months and this one has been the best. My turtle’s water has never been this clean and the noise level with the smaller attachment (not the tube/waterfall one) is very minimal. The setup was extremely easy - the hardest part was cutting the tubes so make sure you have sharp scissors - but maybe that’s because I’ve set up a good amount recently to compare it to. It was a bit pricey but WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY. So far I am soooo happy with it! I haven’t cleaned the media boxes or tubes yet, so that may prove to be more of a problem, but considering how clean the water is now, I am willing to do the work!!

Very satisfied
I've been using for a few weeks now on a 75 gallon tank, about half full of water, with 2 painted turtles. It was working really well once we got it primed, which took a while. After a few weeks, it's now time to clean the filter. The setup was easy, it's nice and quiet, and seems to be working really well! Wish I would've purchased sooner, but wasted my time with an EHEIM first, due to its good reviews.

Elite 700 is worth every penny I invested
I bought this back in July 2018 but did not install this until January 2019. I am using this on a 20 gallon tank which is a bit overstocked with many creatures. Although the Elite 700 may be considered overkill for this small tank, It works perfect for my needs. I was using a large hang on the back filter and I would always be replacing the filter media. This was becoming expensive.Right out of the box this filter was easy to assemble. Once I was done, I pumped the primmer button until the canister made a good suction of water before plugging the unit in. That was it! I would recommend that you close one of the valves to 3/4 or halfway closed as the water pressure is very powerful. (I made a mess)The Penn Plax Elite 700 canister filter has cleared up the the cloudiness in the water and aerates the water with it's adjustable outflow. It came with many extra replacement pad filters, but I have checked both February and March 1st and just needed to be rinsed out and put back in.

Very Loud
It filters fine. But it's way louder than my 4-year-old cheap-ass Chinese made filter which is larger than this one. Very disappointed.Edit after 4 months:cons:1. It's not quiet.2. Too much water flowing through the side of the filter media.3. Somehow heats up the water to 86 degree while the ambient is 77 degree4. It's not grounded!! I mean.. Cmon seriously?5. the seal inside is not very reliablepros:1. a carrying handle is pretty handy when doing maintenance.2. at least it looks nice from the outside :)

Excellent affordable external fish tank filter
Bought this to replace a FLUVAL G-3 supporting a 55 Gal tank. While the FLUVAL is an excellent filter unit, the cost of the filters is exorbitant (extremely expensive). While this unit doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the G-3 does, it it MUCH MORE economical to maintain and accomplishes the same job (at a lower cost). 2 notes: 1. It comes with an Extra round rubber gasket (for the intake tube on the bottom of the motor assembly), put it in a safe place and don't try to install it over the other one (like I tried), and 2. The initial priming took a bit of time and effort before all the air was purged. You'll know if there is still air in the unit because it will be very noisy.

Excellent filter
At first I was skeptical because I had to send back the first one it didn't keep the tank clean. After one week my tank was very cloudy. I am very pleased with the replacement. My tank never looked so clear.

Small powerful, quiet
This is my first canister filter. To me, they're all basically the same. This filter is small,Only two trays, but works very well, is very quiet.
