Huge improvement
Better than OEM replacement for my Champion 4 toilet. Easy swap, doesn’t leak. Very happy with this item

Leaky toilet? Buy this and save water and money
Our toilet started to leak and Amazon came to the rescue with this exact replacement which was much better than the generic flappers available in the big box stores. The American Standard Champion Flush Valve took just minutes to install and has adjustments so you easily control water levels in both the tank and bowl. It seems a little louder than our original flush valve, but have used it for several months now with no issues — and best of all, no noisy leaks!

A hard-to-find toilet valve
This is a unique size for a toilet valve and difficult to find at any of the big box stores. It works as expected. But be sure to tighten the tap a good 3/4 turn after hand tightening using the provided tool to avoid a leak. I did not get it tight enough initially and had to disassemble the tank from the bowl to re-tighten.

Poor new design
This was the most time consuming thing to do. To have to unscrew and remove the entire top of the toilet was a nightmare. Once replaced I forgot to snap in one of the grey rings to the top piece of the flush valve ( why it wasn’t already attached is beyond me) and the new style doesn’t have the two clasp on each side to squeeze anymore for easy twist removal. Now how are we supposed to replace in the future because you have to unscrew the green top of the valve in order to replace and remove before detaching the top part of the toilet. It is so difficult to grab and twist without running the risk of it snapping the center plastic piece. I ended up just leaving it as is at that point. American Standard needs to go back to their old design. Considering how pricey this toilet is to began with it shouldn’t be this much of a hassle. Will be reaching out to manufacturer to see if they have the old valve in stock in case I have to do this again in the future. Would not recommend.

A satisfying flush.
The old flushing contraption was just awful. It was falling apart. Replaced with this part and was glad I didn't decide to replace the entire toilet. Works well. Installation is straight forward. Take your time. As others have pointed out you may need to pry a bit to get the old part released from the base after removing the screws. A spongy, raggedy black gasket remained. The directions do not tell you to remove it....but it needs to be discarded. There is another new gasket loosely attached to the new part. It had fallen off. One side of that gasket was a bit smoother than the opposite side. I had to guess which side was to face down. (I chose the "shinier" side down using my half-baked powers of logic...it also had an inspection mark on that side.) Anyhoo, I am enjoying satisfying flushes and you will too. I held a ceremonial throwing out of the contraption flush assembly which was gratifying. Perhaps I will upload a video of that on You Tube. It brought tears to my eyes.

American Standard replacement flush valve
For a replacement part everything worked out and fit in place okay and seems to be working great. Parts seem to be of good quality.

Nice parts but I bought wrong one…
I am pretty good at buying toilet parts and repairing my toilet, but this time I really screwed up. I didn’t read the description of the toilet very well. I did not notice that this was for a one piece toilet. That definitely does not describe mine, so I was able to return it with no hassle. It was very easy sending it back via Staples. I found another one at Lowe’s.
