A Whole New World!
This book provides the reader with truly wonderful hiking trails in the Western New York area. I'm born and raised in the area yet had never heard of some of the parks and trails highlighted in this book. If hiking in WNY is your goal, this is a great book for locations of trails, their conditions, level of difficulty, points of interest, etc.

Hiking in Western News York
I gave this to my Son-in-law for Christmas. It arrived on time before Christmas and was in great shape. I will continue to use Amazon for future purchases.

Good for finding off the beaten path places but an updated edition would be great
We've done at least a dozen of the hikes in this book. Many of them are truly undiscovered gems or at least undiscovered! There are some things that are challenging about this book because it is from 1990.First, there are no GPS coordinates so you either have to navigate based on the 'from the thruway or from Xyz little town' directions he provides or use the name of the park or state forest and watch as you get near for names mentioned in his directions to get to the correct trailhead etc.Secondly, some of the trails have been relabeled, reblazed or in at least one case, practically destroyed since the book was written. This isn't common and the little differences from trail reroutes etc might even add to the adventure factor for experienced hikers but some people need or want very detailed accurate descriptions and could be disappointed.Still, I recommend buying this book because it is full of less crowded, less obvious hikes than most casual hikers will find on their own.
