Yes, it chimes 9 times at 9 o’clock, 10 times at 10 o’clock, etc. You can set it to be silent during the night if you want.

Yes, the clock plays Westminster chimes and counts the hours.

Q: How do I set the clock to chime the correct number of chimes to reflect the current hour? Right now if its set on 8 it only chimes 7...

I had the same problem. I reread the instructions, there is a button on the back when you take the cover off that says “set” press that button only one time to move the chimes forward one hour. If you press it more, it will move the chimes ahead that many times.

Q: is there a silence option, automatic silencing, or silencing at preset time?

there is a switch that will silence all rings from the clock. Also there is a switch to silence the chime and toll from 11 PM until 0700. These switches are in the rear of the clock and are not available when the clock is mounted. These would be a setup option.
