Great, smooth deodorant.
I'm a 40-something guy that shaves his pits once a week, and has pretty slow hair growth. I had been using antiperspirant up until this past February when I decided to try going to straight deodorant since I had to get stronger and stronger antiperspirant to keep myself dry. I figured it was time to reset and see if I really was sweating so much. I generally have been using Degree Cool Comfort forever, with a few tweaks recently. In February I quit everything for a few weeks and used just Bentonite clay and a little vinegar and water on the pits each evening to help with the transition. After about three weeks I went to use PiperWai since everyone mentioned it being about the best, and the charcoal helped keep sweat down. PiperWai was great for a few months, but after about 8 – 10 hours after applying I’d begin noticing my manly musk, something I’m sure my co-workers and wife may not appreciate as much as I do. So I began looking for another option. I tested Schmid’s Cedarwood + Juniper stick and got a rash that evening, so decided to go looking for pastes again.Overall:I end up putting on the Pit Stank Paste first thing in the morning (about 6:30AM) and going without any added application until bed at 11pm. I haven’t once felt the need to add more, but it has only been a week. It feels smooth and nice going on, with a slightly powdery feel mixed in with the oil. It’s definitely smoother than the Piper Wai which I liked, but was almost crumbly when going on.Effectiveness (5)Since starting to use this for a week in the 90degree heat and at the gym I am not noticing my normal BO smell at all. Even when I start sweating I don’t notice my BO smell at all, I feel odorless in the put region. I have also noticed that I’m not sweating as much. When I was really warm the Piper Wai would still cover the odor, but I’d still sweat a little. I really don’t feel like I even have pools of sweat coming out of my pits. That being said, I still do sweat a little and do the whole “cool the pits with the car air vent” while driving until the car cools off.Smell (5)While unscented, this definitely has a slight smell to it. Almost coconut and powder mixed. It’s very hard to detect though unless my nose is in my pits. I was nervous that unscented wouldn’t work well, and I almost wanted to find a way to add some fragrance oils, but I’m glad I haven’t.Texture (4)Think butter you’ve left out overnight, when it’s incredibly soft and almost liquid. There’s a slight oil feeling on your fingers and pits, but not uncomfortable. I’m guessing the added powders make this feel like it has more texture and not like oily glop.

Bumped up to 5 stars after more use - love it!
Edit: I changed my review from 4 to 5 stars. I kept it at 4 stars at first because of the light irritation and slight change in skin texture, but this weekend, after using the Indian Healing Clay a couple times and putting a good moisturizer on my pits at night for a week, my skin started to peel. Most of the dead skin came off with light scrubbing, leaving smooth skin behind. It was a bizarrely satisfying experience.Original Review: I've been using this deodorant for a couple weeks now, and for the most part I'm very pleased with it. I've been using clinical deodorants for a long time, but I'm trying to use more natural products for everything. I tried using straight baking soda and coconut oil as a deodorant, which worked well enough but I could never quite create the perfect paste, and it didn't always last as long as I needed it to.Pit Stank Paste is a deodorant, and it definitely does prevent odor, but it's not an antiperspirant, so you still sweat. Right now it's not that big of a problem because it's only March, so I'm interested to see how this deodorant will hold up to the hot Texas summer in a few months.A lot of people have mentioned a rash or irritation, and I am experiencing a slight irritation as well. It was a little confusing navigating Essential Eden's website to find their instructions for how to "detox" your pits, but what they recommend is using calcium bentonite clay (Indian Healing Clay) mixed with apple cider vinegar. You mix the products according to the instructions on the Indian Healing Clay packaging and apply it to your pits and let it dry for 15-20 minutes. Leaving it on for that whole time was the hard part for me. I ended up laying on my bed with my arms over my head, awkwardly waiting for the timer to go off. Washing it off was very messy, and next time I'll rinse it off in the shower. I've only used the mask once, but I will try it again. It's also helping me to use moisturizers on my pits at bedtime after washing off what's left of the paste.

This stuff is awesome. I've been using non-aluminum deodorant for years and ...
Edit: 4/3/17-Had to stop using this several weeks ago because of a really, really painful rash on my pits. I tried to push through the rash and keep going, but it got to the point that fabric brushing over my skin hurt. The rash is still there, tender and painful, weeks later. It is going away, but very slowly. Sad, because I loved this product without the rash. (Changed my rating from 5 to 3 stars.)This stuff is awesome. I've been using non-aluminum deodorant for years and have tried most of them that I've found in grocery stores around the area. The one I liked the best was Tom's of Maine, which kept me dry and smelling fresh until I started to sweat. With Tom's, as soon as I exerted enough energy to start sweating it was all over. No, I didn't stink as bad as I would have without wearing the deodorant, but I still came home from work (I walk about 10,000 steps daily at work, so I can get sweaty at times, especially in the summer as I have to walk outside a lot) smelling pretty bad.I've been wearing the Pit Stank Paste for about a week, and no, I haven't yet tested it in the summer's heat, but I don't smell AT ALL after a full day of work, even after I've been sweating. I like that when I put this product on it feels like I have nothing under my armpit (which is slightly anxiety-inducing, but also great), and I like that it smells neutral.Glad I bought this! Looking forward to trying it out in the humid summer.
