These guys are great!
Work perfectly! Not only did I get more than 10 of these little buggers, I also got 2 extra ones that are made of cloth. My primary concern with these was about someone being able to see it. But as long as you wear a tie with a nice knot you can't tell.I have had had one destroy a top button on my shirt, so you have to be careful unbuttoning and not just rip your shirt off like the Incredible Hulk. I chalk it up to my own carelessness that I lost that button, not the product. The extenders are sturdy, and haven't had a single one of them break (except for the a la cart cloth ones, they both broke easily which made me glad when first coming to Amazon I made the right choice in choosing these metal ones over the cloth ones). As some reviewers have said, they do pinch your neck occasionally but its something you can live with unless your a total wuss. With a hairy chest and a stubbly beard I find its really not that annoying to handle and if you aren't cranking your neck around like a crazy fool you'll be fine. Sometimes I tie my tie too tight (being overly conscious that someone will see them) but I usually just loosen the tie and then stop getting clipped so much and nobody says anything. And if they did, really how rude would that be? lol And its not anything to be ashamed of that you have a large neck or your're trying to get a smaller shirt to fit you! Overall a great product and I would buy them again if I had to, but these seem like they will last for a long time.

Good in a pinch...literally
I recommend buying shirts where the necks fit. That said, if you run into the situation where you bought shirts to be worn with the top button open and all-of-a-sudden you take a job that is professional dress and you realize that most of your collection of shirts is about 1/2 size small in the neck - these are perfect for you. I used them on a handful of shirts as I was building up my professional wardrobe and they worked great. Most of the time, if you have a nice shirt and a nice tie the extenders will stay hidden. If you have a shirt or tie that doesn't keep the knot in place, this makes the problem worse and you will be able to see the extenders. If your shirt is more than 1/2 size small - I don't think these will help.

Great collar extenders, but beware if you react to metals...
I bought these last year, and they work exactly as expected. They give a little extra room for comfort in the neck, and they even stayed on my shirts through the washer and dryer. I'd give it a five star review, but I do have one problem with them. They give me a rash on my neck where they touch the skin. I'm guessing I have an allergy to nickel, and these must be made of a pretty high percentage of that. I don't feel right giving a lower rating than four, because it's not their fault, really, but it sure would be a better product if they were stainless steel. I've had to buy some plastic ones for this year.

Function over Form
The extenders work fine, doing exactly what they're designed to do. The great feature with these is that they stretch. But I wish they were more attractively designed.I know that for most people the extender is hidden behind a tie when used on a shirt collar. But I bought these to use on shirt sleeves rather than collars -- I guess my wrists are thicker than average because my favorite brand of dress shirt fits perfectly except that the sleeves are too tight. As a result, the metal button part is visible and it's kind of ugly.

Save money on new shirts
These little collar button extenders are far superior to their plastic or cloth equivalents. The wound spring steel actually covers a strong rubber band that does the job of providing elasticity. Eventually the rubber band will snap, especially if one makes a habit of over-stretching it regularly. USE A GENTLE HAND. These extenders actually give just about 1/2 inch in extra room buttoning the top shirt button. They become invisible behind the tie knot. Make sure to purchase hin quantity (ten) as they are so much cheaper and they do get lost or left in the wash.

Usefu, but there has to be a better desgin, doesn't there?
These do enable you to button what would otherwise be unbuttonable shirts. Problems -- (1) they are hard to use, I find that it can take me a minute or more to get them working, (2) they stick into your neck, although after some playing, that gets better. A good thing -- you get a package of ten, and you really only need one. So, you can stick one in your dresser, one in the car, one in the office desk, one in the suitcase, etc. At least you are sure to have it when you suddenly have to put on a tie, a didn't realize that your shirt collar was too small.

A good idea!
I bought this packet of ten. I have an odd sized neck. If I buy a size larger, the shirt is too loose on the neck and if I buy a size smaller - chokes. These little items are life savers. The only down size is that the spring coil will wear out within a year. So I need a pack of ten to get buy.

Great product and money saver
My husband has a huge neck and these have been awesome in extending the collar of his button-ups so he can wear a tie with them. I only gave 4 stars becusae sometimes the extenders snap and break and we probably only have 5 of the 10 left. Overall, though this product has helped to save us money by not having to buy new shirts.
