We have traditional hard wood floors and the whole family has slipped and fallen multiple times on the stairs. After one child fell pretty hard, we upgrades to this. We used to have a 2 inch version of another brand which did not feel as abrasive and likely worn down. These are thick 4 inches and they are much rougher than others.I know most people will not want these on their nice hard wood stairs but you simply feel safe with them and one fall is all it takes to go to the ER.Installation tip is to cut rounded corners and importantly also put about halfway around the front edge of each stair so the tape goes almost over the edge of the front of the stair. The reason is that this is where you slip a lot if you step poorly life if only your toes touch the edge of the stair going up. Don't put two inches behind the edge as that only gets you half way to feeling safe.Downside - lots of little crumbs and stuff get stuck in these over time and it is a pain to get out. I get complaints from the other half but I simple want it safe and I feel with this product, we are safer. Also, it will rough up socks a bit.....The abrasiveness of all these types of tapes wears down a bit so going a bit more abrasive than what you might think means you will not need to redo this in 2 years from now.I am likely going to buy another roll and try to see if it will stick on my porch steps outside.

Bought this to put o the bathroom tile in my mom's apartment and it work/looks fantastic. Very easy to install. Didn't notice any smell at all (someone gave it 1 star for a smell? Don't install it on your upper lip I guess). Maybe on dark wood it isn't as clear as some would like, but I included a photo here. Ever tile except for 3 in this picture has an 2 11x4 strips of on them. If you're standing on them you can tell, but from 4 feet away they're invisible. I used the whole roll on that floor (just ordered another roll to finish those 3 tiles and throw some strips in the kitchen). We'll see how it lasts, but as of now they're great. Made sure to follow the directions and clean the floor first well before applying, so hopefully they'll stay for a while. I fully expect them to get dirty at some point, but I'm more than happy to remove the tape and put more down.

Amazing stuff! This goes on easy and stays put! It gives the floor a "frosted glass" look. I used it on a foyer and interior basement steps, so I cant say about outside wear... but inside it has been great all winter to prevent slips and falls! It is very textured.... so everything will stick to it. It is impossible to really get clean, so just be aware that it will look grubby quickly with use. I probably should have chosen black... but it would not have been appropriate where I used it. Highly recommend!

This is exactly what you think it is. I put it on the steps of a ship-type ladder in our house. The clear tape blends in and doesn't distract from the nice wood of the ladder. Ya know that little roller they show to put it on?? Dude, they show it for a reason. I tried to spread/push it on with my palm and it tore me up! Then I decided to use a rolling pin with a silicone mat on it, worked like a charm.Now you might be worried..."it tore your hands up?!" Yes. It did. But I'm a government employee with delicate, soft hands, and I was putting some real weight on it. It isn't uncomfortable or scratchy to use the ladder now that it's installed.

Great tape for helping our senior dogs confidence on the slippery hardwood stairs in our house. We also have an 18 month old that really likes walking up the stairs herself and I was more reluctant to allow her to before we installed this. Now she has more grip to safely do it.We will be buying more as this is not a huge roll. We made 11 - 10 inch strips for the steps and we need enough to do a few more.

Made a wood jump box (33") that needed super high grip for shoes/feet when jumping on it. This tape worked great! No slipping, much safer to use. I was able to cut it with normal scissors. After over 100x jumps the tape still has all it grip and texture.

Used this on some slippery carpeted stairs. Works great--adds traction. Not sure how long it will last as it obviously isn't as attached as it would be on wood, but still. Also, the clear looks fine on the beige carpet. Black would have been a total eyesore.
