Splinters in my board

Upon opening that cutting board packaging wrap I could smell the stain/ finish coming off the board therefore I washed and scrubbed the board very well to which I can see the stain washing off into my sink. After a week of use the board feels as of there are splinters in the wood. I don’t recommend this board
