Q: does this work with square or not? Some say yes and some say no it does not? I am confused

This cash drawer will work with a receipt printer that has an RJ45 output specifically to open Cash drawers. I think you may need to contact square and ask them if their printer supports cash drawer operation.

Q: What if you lost your keys to your register

You pos has option to do no sale so you can open your drawer without sale. Also if you are using manual register then it would be hard to open cash drawer. It does come with 4 keys so it should be easy to keep one in safe or at home.

Q: does this open automatically with a transaction?

YES!! it DOES open if it is connected to a receipt printer. You will then need to go to your printer properties and tell it to open cash drawer and/or enter a drawer code, which could be one of the following: 27, 112, 0, 50, 250. I have my receipt printer connected to a laptop via usb and the drawer connected to the printer. I had to go to settings on my laptop, then printer/devices, click on properties for my printer, then "printing preferences" then "document settings" where I was able to tell it when to open drawer, after printing receipt or before.

Reliable and Sturdy Cash Drawer with Great Compatibility

I’ve been really happy with this cash register drawer so far. It works perfectly under the counter at my business, and it feels sturdy and well-built. The quality is excellent for the price, and it’s easy to use whether I connect it to my POS system or just open it manually when needed. The only downside is the lock. It works, but it can be a little finicky at times, and I’ve seen it hesitate to open properly once or twice.
