I was initially skeptical of using dog deterrents because of reviews I've read for other products saying that it is not effective. I also did not want to use deterrents with a shock collar, even though I've read that those can be more effective, especially with training. But I really needed one to help my Great Dane stop barking or at least bark less. So I decided to try this PetSpy ultrasonic deterrent, and I am happy to say that it works. My Great Dane has a loud bark and barks when people walk by our house. He gets really fussy when guests come over and ring the doorbell. Our guests tend to be intimidated by my dog because he is so large and they flinch when he barks. My Great Dane is actually super friendly and I don't want people to be scared of him. Preventing him from barking would be a good first step - guests don't attempt to pet or play with him until he stops barking. Using the PetSpy ultrasonic deterrent helps A LOT. When I use the deterrent, my Great Dane barks less when people walk by and I notice a change in his behavior. Upon hearing the ultrasonic sound, he will walk away from the window and his bark will be softer than it usually is. I am really happy with this product and will continue to use it to train my Great Dane with the "PetSpy Tips and Training Cards" that are included. These are short, concise and well written cards that teach you how you should use the device to train your dog in specific situations. For example, what to do if your dog has territorial barking or barks when you leave home. The cards are good quality and sturdy. I take them with me while I walk my dog and read the tips whenever I forget what to do or how to do something. Overall, great product that is effective and really useful.

I found this to be an effective training tool when used with specific commands and treats/rewards and redirection activities. My advice is to read the manual it comes with and look up some videos on people using this or similar devices for training purposes. It's lightweight and holds a charge for months and is well made, which I appreciate.

Nice product, well made, easy to use and to recharge. But standing right beside the fence behind which the evil, ever-barking terrier prowls, it appears to do nothing. Even when aimed through a knot-hole. I will keep trying, but I fear this neighborhood menace will continue its constant yipping and yapping. I was always concerned about controlling my dogs so they would not annoy the neighbors. Sadly, these dog owners seem to not care about their neighbors. 4/21/23: Company reached out to me and offered a full refund. In appreciation of and to recognize the excellence of their customer service, I added a star. I declined the refund and will continue to try to use this electric dog whistle effectively.

tried this for my cat. the audible clicker got her attention momentarily, but basically is just a curious noise for her. the ultrasonic sound had absolutely no effect on her at all. I checked to see that it was actually functioning, and it did in fact dimple the surface of water in a glass, but zero effect on the cat. hopefully it works better on dogs... overall build looks nice, it is lightweight and easy to use, just useless for my needs

I was using it for training my dog not to bark. It started out OK till a week later only 50% works. The beeping sound still works but not the ultrasonic sound. After that the effectiveness was gone.

I have a one your old Australian Shepherd. She can be completely insane, energy through the roof. She will go completely nuts barking when people come by. I bought an expensive dog collar that worked, but it had to be on her which wasn’t always the case. I miss placed it so I bought this to use until I found the collar. I no longer need the bark color. This is so easy to use, I just keep it handy and I don’t even need to push the button. My dog learns very very quickly. I have only used the ultrasonic once. That was enough. I have used the beeping one a few times, although now all I have to do is pick the thing up I am including lots of praise, and I did do some videos on how to use this prior to use. I think you need to pay attention with the right way and wrong way to use this to make it effective, you only want to press the button while they are engaged in the bad activity, if you do that when they stop, they will not listen. And won’t make the connection. She also seems much calmer and all-around well behaved. It is not something that scares her or is mean to her , I have to say I’m honestly shocked and would highly recommend it. My recommendation is based on one weeks use I will update I doubt it’s going to last that long, but hopefully long enough that my dog understands the correct commands now I just say quiet, and she stops immediately , she never did that before. If your child is insane, crazy uncontrollable, get this and learn how to use it.

This was like a miracle at first. When my dog started up barking at a noise outside, I tried it, and she immediately stopped and then just went over to the couch and sat down calmly. I was amazed! However, over the next few weeks as I used it, she seemed to acclimate to the ultrasonic sounds more and more, even when I switched between modes. She now basically ignores it. I suppose this might work for some dogs, but sadly it doesn’t really do anything for mine anymore.

As the picture shows, the small carabiner that comes with the bark silencer makes it quite easy to keep the silencer easily accessible for those moments when the dog decides to start barking. I can control my dog fairly well with my voice, but when he goes to barking the level of volume I need to stop him is just as annoying as the barking and it is not always successful without me having to close the distance and let him know I'm serious. I've not gotten to use this device much, but when I did it certainly stopped him from barking quickly as his puzzled look was like, "What was that". As per the instructions provided, I rewarded him with a "Good Dog" when he stopped his barking. Nice device.

The PetSpy Dog Barking Control Device is a fantastic training tool. Our family dog, a 3 year old Swiss Mountain mix, is fairly protective and highly leash aggressive towards cars and other dogs. It came to a point where I (18 years old) was too nervous too walk her anywhere in our neighbourhood for fear of running into another dog, but this device has helped us come a long way in her training where all other methods (calming caps, bark collars, etc) have failed. The device has three settings: A warning and two frequencies, but after introducing our dog to the device over the span of a few weeks, I’ve found that the warning has been sufficient 90% of the times that we’ve had to use it. We associate/reinforce her training with the word “quite” and she has picked it up relatively quickly. I’ve gotten to a point where I can usually show her the device and substitute the warning with “quite” on our walks. I’m very please with this progress! She’s taken to it so well, but it’s certainly not an “easy fix” by any means. It has taken a lot of time and patience to get to this point, and we still have some way to go. I also want to add that it has been a life saver on more than one occasion where I have had other dogs, unleashed or otherwise unattended, run up to us on our walks. While I would never recommend subjecting another dog or any other animal to the frequency unprovoked, it has proved an effective deterrent by deescalating what would have otherwise become a very unpleasant situation for each of us involved. Another plus is that the battery life far exceeds the two week expectancy. I have gone 2+ months without charging it, and even then it has never died. If you are considering buying this device for a dog that is barky or has behavioural issues otherwise, PLEASE go through the training booklet/cards that accompanies your order when it arrives! The device should not be used within 5 ft of your dog. If a situation ever arrises where maintaining that distance is difficult, I recommend muffling the device or pointing it away from you and your dog to the best of your ability. It may not be ideal but it is certainly better than the alternative of harming or irritating your dogs ears. I also would not recommend entrusting it to children or anyone otherwise who would be likely to abuse the frequencies, just to be safe. All of that being said, I never leave the house without it. It is rare that I have to use the frequencies anymore, but having it on me has made all the difference! I can walk my dog comfortably around the neighbourhood again. This has been a great investment for myself, our dog, and my family.
