Robert Downey Jr: The Biography Paperback – May 1, 2011

A great book. I learned alot by reading this.

I purchased this book for a friend of mine in recovery and it has been an inspiration to him. I am so grateful for such a beautiful written piece of literature about this amazing man who shows us all that we all deserve a comeback in life!!!

I loved this book! I have been a fan of his for quite some time and this was such a great personal insight to his life and career and the obstacles he has overcome! Very interesting and easy to read...hard to put down! I loved it!

The info is good if you can decipher the writing. Odd writing. The book reads like lots of quotes. It does not read like a biography. A lot of 'he said'...'she said' stuff which breaks up the flow and gave me a headache. Also, faulty glue, so the pages fall out as you read it. Yes, I did put it in the paper recycling bin after page 15.

Slick and often inaccurate. The author is more a parasite than a biographer, looking to make a buck off of Robert Downey Jr's well-earned success. Absolutely one for the trash bin.

I don't understand the one star reviews? This book is not magnificent, it wasn't written by Boswell or Bragg but it is still a good biography. Why? It focuses on RDJ's career, battle with drug addiction, and is peppered with RDJ's hilarious wit and humour. Oh and also we see a bisexual aspect to his life (read the book to find out). It isn't highly wrought and finely detailed, I admit that, but it is informative. Another reviewer said that it was highly inaccurate, maybe I haven't done wider reading (i.e. Ben Falk's book or Wikipedia) but it seems pretty damn accurate to me.Worth a buy for those interested in this enigmatic and hilarious actor. Also highly recommended for those who have never seen any of RDJ's early work such as "Chaplin" (1993). Still, bring on the (alleged) auto-biography!

I was disappointed in this book. Guess I am used to more in-depth detail and felt it had been somewhat thrown together.I don't doubt Robert Downey Jr is a difficult subject. For all his seeming honesty, he seems to keep things very close tohis chest and keeps up a front. This is his right but if a writer takes on a biography, I feel it is that writers job to get to the root of things.
