Amazing Fish Sauce... Buy it elsewhere
This is truly an amazingly good fish sauce, and the bottle is very pretty. I suppose if you're a die-hard Bangkok street vendor enthusiast, it might not be flavorful enough; but for the American palate, it's wonderful - subtle, smoky, salty-sweet, pure umami. But, the price from these folks is too high. I paid $30 per bottle through Amazon (actually rareteacellar .com) but you can buy the same thing directly from BLiS for $17.95 (plus shipping). I should have shopped more carefully, but the damage is minimal since the bottle will probably last a long time.

A great finishing sauce
I bought this thinking it was way over priced, but using a few drops as a finishing sauce bringing out the flavors in the background and it goes a long way.I did a side by side taste test with 3 Crab fish sauce and this is much better, as is the 40 n Red Boat.The 3 Crab is good fish sauce and I use it in large quantities, but the flavor compared to the Red Boat and Blis is like fresh fish in salt compared to a can of anchovy paste that leaves an aftertaste.This is a great finishing sauce for dressings or a few drops in a bowl of soup or even some cocktails like the Manhattan.

Fish sauce is not something I have used very much in cooking but I am learning that many dishes can benefit from the judicious use of a little high-end fish sauce like this BLiS product. I suppose it is ounce for ounce pricey but treat yourself as it will take sometime to use up a bottle right. I understand the origin is not Vietnam or the far east but rather Carthaginians, Roman and Greece used a similar product first. This is a really first rate product and I will no doubt find many other dishes to use it with.

This is just fish sauce now. Not nearly as good as the original

Lovely
Excellent addition to a lot of dishes. My favorite so far was a miso vinaigrette. Use sparingly, because it’s a VERY strong flavor.

Very strong Scotch/Bourbon flavor over powers otherwise clean fish sauce
This is a very clean tasting but saltier fish sauce. My bottle tasted more like Islay scotch than bourbon, which makes me wonder if they used bourbon barrels that also had been used to age scotch whisky. I found the whisky/whiskey flavor to be over powering. It mellowed after a couple of weeks in the fridge, but is still very strong. I have three bottles of fish sauce in my fridge: Suchi 40N, Red Boat regular 40N (which is the saltiest and fishiest of the three), and this one. I reach for the Suchi most of the time for most purposes. Glad I bought this product once to try it. But I will probably never buy it again.
