Scuba Diving & Snorkeling for Dummies

I'm a PADI certified diver but haven't dove in many years and I definitely wouldn't feel safe diving today without some study. I've been snorkeling in the Caribbean a number of times in recent years and am heading back soon, this time with a possible simple dive or two during the week. I wanted something in the way of a refresher without studying mathematical gas calculations and such. My wife bought me a book that would have bewildered Jacques Cousteau and I put it away after 30 minutes of skipping section after section of technical mumbo jumbo. This book is exactly what the doctor ordered! I can be refreshed on the fundamentals and it will also help my daughter, who's going on a second trip with me in a month, to understand the basics of snorkeling! So glad I bought this!

Has everything you need to know in a quick reference style and comprehensive breakdowns of all aspects of diving. Read it right before my last dive, helped out a lot. Im definately not getting certified now, who needs all that when you got this book to watch your back! (I'm kidding, I haven't read it yet, no clue if its comprehensive or not. If I need to learn anything specific, I'll give it a skim. Diving is easy, breath through a tube underwater, check.)

This book is incredibly easy to read and beginner friendly. I’d HIGHLY recommend reading this before and/or during your first lessons.

No issues

I wanted to get a gift for my "newly" into the sport of Scuba Diving husband. I have always enjoyed the "Dummies" books for everything else - so why not this as well?

good seller, book OK, not great, but not bad either

Very good, I used the information in the book through out our vacation.

While we bought this as a joke it really is very informative and useful to refer too.

Very superficial and gets kitting up sequence wrong; how basic is that!

I've never bought a 'for dummies' book before. I like the cover but I was disappointed by the relatively few pictures. What there are are really dull and old fashioned. Looks quite boring really hasn't made me want to start reading it. That's nothing to do with the quality of the writing though as I haven't done more than skim it so far.

This book has all the important information on scuba and snorkel diving. It is a very basic book and is well laid out. The only downside is that the book was too basic for me having done a days course so i used it as reference material to refresh myself.
