I have a pedestal 3speed fan that is too fast even on low setting. Will this give me slower speeds.

I notice on the packaging it says "up to 300W or 8" fan". The 8" isnt mentioned in the writeup , so is anyone using a bigger fan without problems?

For the price it's excellent, a 300w fan is very powerful and I'd be surprised if you had one rated that much, check on the fan for the rating, it'll say something like "220-240v ac 100watts" this controller will make some fans hum especially if your fan has multi speeds and you set it low and then use this gadget,best to set it high and use this to bring it back down,it's to do with the number of coils switched in or out for speed control.

Can this be used to reduce speed of grass trimer?

This is only intended to be used on an in-line fan, we would not recommend it for use with any other item.
